Army, 20+ Years I was drafted in 1971 and entered service as an Artilleryman and my first assignment was Korea, unfortunately they needed Drug/Alcohol Counselors more than "Cannon-Cockers" which led me to several years as a Counselor, then OJT as a Medic when I became fascinated by flying which led to my becoming a Flight Medic...I spent the next 18 years as a Flight Medic/Platoon Sergeant then First Sergeant of an Air Ambulance Company which was the first MEDEVAC Company in Operation Desert Shield (1 1/2 weeks after the invasion!)/Operation Desert Storm...upon returning to the States I was the deputy Commandant of the Medical Department's NCO Academy until I was promoted to Sergeant Major then I became the Senior Enlisted Advisor to The Army Surgeon General for Enlisted Professional Post Graduate Education until I retired! The Army was the GREATEST life event for me because that's where I met Gale, my Best Friend, Life Companion, Best Buddy, my Wife! Even though I turned down a Congressional Appointment to the US Air Force Academy way back in 1966 because "I didn't want to be in the military!!" Gee, funny how life gives you lemons and in this case I made the best lemonaide possible!!!
