Earl J Wilcox

Class of 1951

After serving in the Army during the Korean war and marrying a girl from Cardwell, Mo, I earned degrees from Arkansas SU (1957), Texas (MA, in English), and a Ph.D.from Vanderbilt University, 1966, in American Literature. I taught at the college and university level in Texas, Arkansas, TN, and SC. I retired in 2000 from Winthrop University (SC), after teaching at that school for more than 30 years. I published numerous books, essays, and other scholarly works on an array of American literary figures, most notably Jack London and Robert Frost. I was a Fulbright scholar in Greece, a distinguished scholar in residence in University College London, and founded an international journal, THE ROBERT FROST REVIEW. My wife and I have two sons, one grandchild, and we both recall fondly our years in NE Arkansas and SE MO. Mrs. Boyd was my Tech English teacher. She was great and gave me a strong background to pursue my career.
