In 1989 I concluded a 23+ year career in the Air Force. Served as and Instructor Pilot and Pilot Evaluator at several US bases and in Viet Nam. Served tours at Major Command level and at the Pentagon. Retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.

I was drafted into the Army on December 2, 1969 and served on active duty until November 1971. My duty stations were Ft. Gordon GA., Ft. Sill, OK and Camp Page, Korea. In June 1977, I enlisted in the Army Reserve. My assignments included Platoon Sergeant, Operations NCO, ADP Operations Sergeant, Detachment Sergeant, First Sergeant and Sergeant Major. My last reserve assignment was the G-6 Sergeant Major for the 89th Regional Support Command in Wichita, KS from February 1999 through August 2002. In September 2002 I retired after 30 years of service.
In February of 2003 I was called out of retirement and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom to Bagram Air Base Afghanistan from February through December 2003.
After I returned from deployment I was assigned to a reserve Defense Information Systems Agency unit in Gettysburg, PA until my second retirement in February 2010.

I spent 20+years as a pilot in the Air Force. Included in my assignments were Primary, Basic flight school, Combat Crew Training, then Offutt AFB, NE, Ellsworth AFB, SD, Several bases in Vietnam, Eglin AFB, FL, back to Vietnam, Langley AFB, VA and Ames, IA,(ISU). I was a helicopter pilot most of the time. I was in Special Operations in Vietnam and at Eglin as an instructor pilot, as well as being on several joint (Army, Navy & Air Force) Special Ops Staff, After Major Command Staff assignmentat Langley, I came to Ames with the Air Force ROTC program. I retired at the end of this assignment as a Lt. Col. I have approx 5000hrs of flying time, most of it in helicopters. My family and I thorougly enjoyed my Air Force career. We couldn't think of a more fulfilling way of life.
