CLASS OF 1973 40TH REUNION

Dear Fellow Glen Cove High School Class of 1973 Alumni,

Can you believe it’s been almost 40 years since our graduation? For some of us the journey might feel like it was yesterday or it might seem eons ago. Remember bomb threats, school lunches, football games, skipping class and hanging with your friends in the cafeteria? Wouldn’t it be great to revisit those classmates you want to see again?

The planning for our 40 year class reunion is well under way. So save the date –

August 2-4, 2013

Mark off that weekend on your calendar and start planning your trip back to GLEN COVE to re-connect with classmates.

We are pleased to announce the Class of 1973 reunion blog site! Our blog is: http://gchs73.wordpress.com/. On this site you will find alumni photos, details of the upcoming reunion, fun facts about the 70’s, classic 70’s music/movies and, of course, all of our classmates. We remember with fond sadness the classmates who are no longer with us. If you know of any other classmates who have died or can tell us more about the lives of any of those who have left us, please let a member of the reunion committee know. We’re still trying to track down a few missing classmates – so if you know how we can reach someone on our list of missing classmates send us an email. Email your updated contact information and also information of any of the missing to: fjv1955@yahoo.com.

So, we welcome you back to the year 1973. Come join us in this trip down memory lane.

We hope you’ll join us at the reunion for good food, great people and awesome music. Reconnect with your classmates, reminisce about the good old days and perhaps make some new memories as well!

We’ll see you there!

Your reunion committee,

Corin Dunne Basilion, Denise Claro, Steven Yastrub, Lori Tuthill Yastrub, Susie Pechstein Marnell, Marianne Beatty Zacharia, Jeff Brooks, and myself Frank Venturino.

ALUMNI

Greetings all,
I don't think all of you understand what I am putting together. Our history is long and filled with experiences and rich traditions making our school a special place in the hearts of thousands of successful and loyal alumni. We hope that your journey with the Alumni Association will enable
you to catch some of the spirit that makes GCHS unique among the high schools on Long Island. For most of us, the years we spent at Glen Cove High served as the foundation for our adult lives. That foundation may have been laid as early as the mid-fifties, or as late as the start of the twenty-first century. Regardless of when we attended GCHS, it provided our early direction into adulthood and allowed us to establish friendships that will last a life time. The purpose of the association is to unite former graduates, raise awareness, and promote the well being of GLEN COVE High School. Our alma mater has prepared many young people for their future, and we would like everyone to know there are positive programs at Glen Cove High School that meet the needs of all students. To insure that no child is left behind, the association will raises funds from a variety of sources and uses the funds to promote Glen Cove High School, its students, and alumni. For $20 a year you will get a web site that we control, newsletters and by this time next year an all school party at homecoming. The email at yahoo is gchsaa. I will send you all the info.
Peace, Love and Happiness!

DEAR ALUMNI,

It is with great pleasure that Dr. Laurence Aronstein, Superintendent of Schools, and I announce the formation of the Glen Cove High School Alumni Association. The GCHSAA has been formed to provide a point of mutual contact for all alumni and a contact point between alumni and the Glen Cove School District. It will be our mission to enhance the lives of our Alumni by providing a central communications resource. We will strive to assist in raising funds for several projects and needs of students and Alumni of Glen Cove High School. We will provide lines of communication for members to renew and strengthen friendships formed during their years at Glen Cove High. This will be accomplished through newsletters and the GCHSAA website. We will endow one or more scholarships for graduates of GCHS. These scholarships will be targeted for student(s) who have shown the ability to succeed academically and would find it difficult or impossible to continue their education without a scholarship.

If you would like to be apart of the GCHSAA from the beginning then, there will be an organizational meeting on Thursday evening 7:30 on Oct. 23 in the cafeteria of the High School. Our email address is gchsaa.yahoo.

The Glen Cove High School Alumni Association where “life after graduation begins”.

Looking forward to hearing from and/or seeing you at the meeting on the 10/23/0
