closing EHS

When Ensley closed, it was the end of an era. How many
students attended this school from the early 1900,s? I know many students have become successful citizens and also
prominent leaders in the Birmingham community. Just think of
the many business people, lawyers, teachers, doctors. home-
makers, sports figures and others who received their start at
Ensley. To quote the Bible in Luke 6:40 - "No student is as great
as his teacher, but upon completion of his studies, he will be

tribute to Howard Ballew

Mr. Ballew will be remembered for the love and faithful
service he gave to the school for 40 years or more, The Principals he served under could always depend on Howard to "Put it all Together". His duties reached out more than just an English teacher. He was "Mr. EHS". Don,t you agree? All of
uswho knew him admire his dedication to his school. He always
dressed neat and was always prepared. We will never ever see
the likes of this man, May he rest in peace, Fellow teacher
