About Event

Dear Classmate, The Class of 1972 is a very special class. We were a part of the era that defined the term “Ole Skool”….. The days of love songs…. The Dells … The Chilites, Isaac Hayes….. Smooth grooves, Earth Wind and Fire, Bobby Womack, The Ohio Players…..social consciousness, James Brown…. I’m Black and I’m Proud… Gill Scott Herron, Angela Davis, Aretha Franklin,,, RESPECT…The good ole days…. And remember the song that bound us all… Al Greens “Let's Stay Together”!!! Well, here we are 40 years later. What a blessing to reflect on such fond memories of our times together. We were a special class then and we are still a special class today. This landmark 40th anniversary is our chance to live up to our class song… Let’s stay together. Coming together in fellowship and love as well as networking in these very challenging times I assure will be refreshing to your soul. The Class of 1972 Reunion Committee is working to finalize plans for an awesome time together in celebration. Our plans include a party cruise in Wilmington, NC and a chartered bus trip there. We need to know how many to plan for. You can find a questionnaire on the class website - www.Classof1972eesmith.com. Simply complete it and return an electronic copy to eesclassof1972@gmail.com. The Committee agreed that our class would offer E.E. Smith $2,000 towards its scholarship fund during the annual memorial service on Sunday in 2012. The Scholarship commitment plus the projected expenses for the weekend amount to following; Weekend event bus trip and cruise = $250 1.Scholarship - $100 2.Bus Trip - $ 60 (May 28, 2012 3.Party boat - $40 4.Hotel and benevolence - $50 Weekend events only = $150 1.Scholarship - $100 2.Hotel and benevolence – $50 Note: Spouses or significant others - $100 for cruise and bus trip. Free when attending with a paid classmate for the weekend events only. We want to get an early start on both planning and funding. The goal of the committee is to see everyone in 2012…... 100% participation. In an effort to make these amounts more manageable this year and to establish the framework for continued growth and participation as an alumni class, we have incorporated Class of 1972 E.E. Smith as a North Carolina organization. We have a bank account with Bank of America. Everyone will be able to deposit money into the bank account as a sub-account has been set up specifically for you with a special control number. Take a moment and go to www.Classof1972eesmith.com, if you select the financial tab you will notice the 2012 annual goals, however if you select the button that says “Login” you will access a page with control numbers and individual info. Each month this info will be added and updated as we move toward the event. You will be credited and we can contract with the Coach company and cruise company. Memorial day is booking up fast so I need everyone to step up and help make this happen. After 2012, the annual fees should drop substantially until another milestone event. However, we want to grow as an alumni class in our strength and ability to support each other and the school and hopefully in annual participation. Each of us will be able to monitor the response to this request by going to the website. We need at least 40 classmates to make the initial $70 deposit before the end of September if you plan to go on the party boat. Thank you for your support and participation. Warm regards, Ron Carter, President 2012 Class of 1972 Reunion Committee _________________________________________________________________________ --------Sample Itinerary-------- Memorial Day Weekend is May 25 – 28, 2012.
