Debbie Hartel Class of 1983
Air Force, 4 Years I was a Mobility Cook and on a Search and Recovry Team. Learned not only how to cook for 800+ people, but how to set up tents and "mobility" cookstoves to have food ready for incoming troops, and a place to bed down. The only hard part after getting out was teaching myself how to cook for 2 - 6 people!!
Deborah Morris Class of 1983
Air Force, 4 Years Actually it was 3yrs, 7 months and 11 days when doctors told me I was going to die because I had a rare cancer call Mesothelioma....and I only had 6- 14 months to get my life in order!!! Sitting on the edge of my bed, I suddenly felt like I was getting a serious hug from God. I then realized that I was NOT going to die anytime soon!!!! And here I am....almost 30 years later....still here!! God has given me a longer life expectancy than what I was told I have. My job was being a "mobility field cook". However, I mostly did file work. It turns out that I am pretty good at it!!! Still am, but they don't need no anymore! I thank God for my longer life span!! Although my life is not ideal--->with pain all over my body....2 cancers, Congestive heart failure , cardiomyopathy (both constriI give and restrictive cardiomyopathy), diabetes(I actually have that under control), lung capacity is down to 30% air left....plus other odds and ends!!!! But don't worry----> I AM and always will be a fighter!!!! Life is way to precious to waste away!!! May God bless you ALL!!!!
