About Me Surprised? I'm told all the time I look like Paula Deen. My reply...Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit Y'all! The girls today 3/05/11 at the Starbucks drive up window tell me t " Has anyone ever told you that you look like Paula Deen? Then, " you ought to send her a photos of your haircut to her, I think she would look cute like you if she had yours instead"...Well, butter my butt and call me a biscuit! as a teen i worked for W.T.Grants in Colton, after grad went to work for Two Guys Dept Store. There for 10 years as head cashier, camera dept mgr, was taken by Fedmart during the sale. Left, got Life insurance license and became a F & I mg...Finance & Insurance Mgr for Redlands Datsun. On to Tom Bell Chev. My father was in the car business, Gen Mgr all my life. I then started my own company called F & I limited. I covered So. Calif and went to car dealerships and filled a need. Most places had one F & I mgr whdo worked bell to bell and then some often with one day off but more often going 6 o 9 months of never having a weekend off, unable to take vacations, sick day horrors. I saw the need, and my company name said it all. "Limited"..I was limited to the number of days I was going to work. So it was a hit, and I needed more employees and found other women ( this was the breakthru of women in this position), largely only men and nothing is worse than an obnoxious car salesman!!! So I sent them out to various locations. I did a honeymoon at Redlands Ford. Because I now existed, their F & I got married. He was not having a honeymoon and I allowed him to. F & I peeps now could take a vacation. Take a weekend off etc. They also had ,ore than one day off. I had regualrs. every other Sat, Sun, Mon at MK Smith, surgery recoup for 3 months in Sun City, vacation in Torrance, you name it...myself and the girls went allover. I went out or sent others out to fill a need. You had to know automotive financing. This was the beginning of computers...the early 80's. We had to know how to operate all of them designed for the automotive industry....more like a LED typewritter. One must have a relationship with the banks. we ran the credit report and decided if this loan could get bought. People had to qualify. I sold people. I always joked that GMAC meant Give Me A Chance! I loved helping people. Duriong this time traveling around the southland I also was studying for the Real Estate Lic exam. Aced it the first time. I wanted to get into Real Estate financing as well. So I did that with Directors Mortgage in the 80's. The time of a newly formed refi division full blown loans for people with home interest rates as high as 17% ! They had to requalify to be lowered to 7%! I loved helping these people! Most, often entire neighborhoods, esp in Moreno Valley, went from 17 to 18%, I dropped them to 7 and a 15 year mortgage and still lowering their payments hundreds. It changed allot of lives and paid off allot of homes erly. Most of these people were upside down with reverse am mortgages and again as today, owed more than it was worth. I made it happened and it felt soo so good! I did this and worked the automotive gig at the same time, I was sending others out as my mortgage gig was 100% commission and i needed my F&I income. Needless to say, the big bucks were rolling in and life was very good. For the 80's and i was making 20k a month. That lasted until Jan 88 when i was diagnosed with MS. Spend 6 weeks in the hospital. Had to do allot of re-learning things, like walking etc. This even changed my life, I had a couple neck injuries in the past that did their toll on me and ended up with a few cervical diskectomies and fusions. I retired in 88. Been diffiuclt for a person who was go go go 24/7. I wouldn't trade it and all the hard work for the world. Life has taken me on many adventures, both in the workplace and in the world. I've met many many fascinating people every where I go. Mark and I travel and no one is a stranger long with the 2 of us as he is a character himself with his 13 countries he's lived in and all of his adventures. We make each other laugh and both share the same sense of adventure. I try not to let health problems get me down. I adapt. Life is great, Life is good. Make the best of what you have...(read more)
