Leanne Dorhout '96 earns Doctorate & receives Texas Rising Star Award

Leanne Dorhout just finished up a very exciting year in her educational career. She recently earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership & Superintendent Certification from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas. Dr. Dorhout is the Principal at Coppell Middle School North, Coppell, Texas, a school of 840 students and 80 Staff.

In addition, Dr. Dorhout was just awarded the “Texas Rising Star” award given on June 14, 2011 at the annual Texas Association of Secondary School Principals Summer Workshop held in Austin, Texas. This award recognizes exemplary administrative performance and is given to one beginning Secondary School Principal in Texas each year.

Dr. Dorhout began her career by teaching for 5 years in the Texas Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District where she taught Middle School & High School English and Pre-AP English courses plus coached volleyball and basketball.

At the age of 27, she was named an Assistant Principal at Carroll High School (a school of approximately 2,000 students) in Southlake, Texas, a position she held from 2005-2009. For the 2009-2010 school year, she was named the Associate Principal at Coppell High School (a school of approximately 2,200 students) and was then named Principal at Coppell Middle School North for the 2010-2011 school year where she remains.

Dr. Dorhout is a 1996 Cedar Falls, Iowa High School graduate, She earned her Education Degree in 2000 from Central College in Pella, Iowa and then her Masters Degree in Educational Administration & Principal Certification from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas.

She is the daughter of Jo & Gary Dorhout of Cedar Falls.
