About Me I was born at Westover A.F.B. in Massachusetts on December 1, 1959. My father Lt. Col. Austin G. Petry Sr. (deceased) was then transferred to Misawa A.F.B. in Japan finally ending up at Vandenberg Air Force Base where he retired in 1966 to reside in Vandenberg Village, Ca. For his bravery and heroics in WW11 my father is enshrined in The Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio. He was the radar observor in a Beaufighter along with his pilot Colonel Auchsburger (also enshrined) when they noticed two German Henkel 111's flying low to the ground on the backside of Germany. They engaged the Nazi planes and removed them from the skies permanently. Upon further examination of the crash site, it was determined that the planes were carrying Hitler's top Lieutenants and documents of the Hitler regime. The planes were on there way to Spain and safe asylum of Franco. I still live in Vandenberg Village, Ca. and have done my best to be a positive Christian role model my entire life. I started my Baseball career when I was eight years old playing for a brand new Little League "VILLAGE HILLS" built by Village Realty owned by Mr. Clay Denson and Mr. John Duffey along with Ebbert's Construction and numerous volunteers including myself. I would first make "ALL STARS" when I was eleven and was on back to back District 50 Championship teams 1970/1971 and was the winning pitcher on the 1971 team, my first Championship win as a pitcher of six total. We were knocked out of the 1970 tournament by a great pitcher from Fillmore, Ca. who went on to be named 1A "PLAYER OF THE YEAR" in High School. When I was fourteen I beat this pitcher, with the help of my teammates, of course, especially Kevin Ewing and Greg Holt in Los Angeles and we avenged the earlier loss when we were twelve. With a one run lead late in the game and bases loaded, a Fillmore batter hit a line drive just fair by third base, the ball ended up in foul territory and Kevin made a game saving catch and threw to Greg, the catcher, who moved accordingly to receive a stellar throw from Kevin from his knees to get a force out and end the threat. It was the greatest play I ever saw while I was pitching. Thanks Kev.These are the kind of quality pitchers and teams I beat growing up. One of many highlights of my pitching career was when I made the Cabrillo Senior High School Varsity Baseball team as a fourteen year old Sophomore after I was "MOST VALUABLE PLAYER" on the freshman team. In High School I would then go on to make All-League my Sophomore, Junior and Senior years leaving a legacy many still talk about presently and when I return to my Alma Mater I am referred to as "THE LEGEND" which makes me so proud that all my hard work growing up paid off. When I was also fourteen after I made the Varsity, pitching against eighteen year old Seniors I would return to "VILLAGE HILLS SENIOR LEAGUE" and pitch against my own age group and they were terrified of my around ninety-two mile per hour fastball and four other pitches, curve, slider, change and knuckle ball. In fact, some parents would not let them bat off me, even though I was not wild (I would go two games without walking anyone for example), they were just that intimidated. I am fondly remembered by Cabrillo Alumni for being the winning pitcher many sports fans claim is the greatest Baseball game ever between two outstanding Baseball programs, Cabrillo and Lompoc, "THE 1976 NORTHERN LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME". I was only a sixteen year old Junior when I pitched the greatest game of my life. A game the media still talks about forty years after I pitched it. The 1976 Championship game had three players drafted to turn professional from Cabrillo and three players drafted from Lompoc's team for a total of six between the two schools and numerous others went on to be All League and All C.I.F. My teammates voted me "MOST VALUABLE PLAYER" and "MOST VALUABLE PITCHER", honors I treasure to this day. I could not be drafted because I was only a Junior. Note: My mother Phyllis could not be at the game because she was too busy working to pay all the bills so I could achieve my sports goals. So, she hired a photographer from the Air Force Squadron she worked with and he took the famous picture that I use for my Facebook profile and have now signed for 40 years and counting primarily when I hold my free pitching clinics. Thanks mom and I love you. I was an "ALL-STAR" pitcher from 11-18 years old, compiling a record of around 20-2, with an ERA under 1.00. I "BLEW" my right shoulder out, at 20 years old, just as I was to be drafted to turn professional. In my youth I helped put "VILLAGE HILLS LITTLE LEAGUE", "SENIOR LEAGUE", "SENIOR BABE RUTH ALL STARS" and, of course, "CABRILLO SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL" on the baseball map. All in all I pitched six Championship game wins in my career as mentioned earlier. When I pitched for Lompoc Senior Babe Ruth teams, 1976, 1977 & 1978, the teams came one game from "THE WORLD'S SERIES", all three years or the finals of Regionals. In 1978 I beat a great Southern California team, but we had to win twice, coming out of the losers bracket. In the second game, a fellow pitcher gave up a grand slam and then left the game. I was asked to re enter after just pitching the night before. The first batter I faced was the guy who hit the "SLAM". I came in with bases loaded and struck the side out. I would continue to finish the game, but we still lost. So, I pitched 10 scoreless innings against a team that went to "THE SENIOR BABE RUTH WORLD'S SERIES". l also am the youngest pitcher to ever beat The Santa Maria Indians. The Lompoc Pirates played in the Indians league one summer and was short on pitchers and my favorite catcher Mr. Mark Haley, who has gone on to have a great career as a coach in the minors, asked me to join the team. My first game, once again at 16, was against the Indians consisting of many College superstars and I pitched 7 innings getting the win with the great soon to be Major Leaguer Jesse Orosco who was 18 at the time getting the save. I started coaching and playing Slo-Pitch softball at 16 years old and earned many All-Tourneys at third base, with, the best being All-State and mentioned in Slo-Pitch magazine in 1979. I quit serious competitive sports in 1992, But still coached and played in the annual Cabrillo Senior High School Alumni game until I was 45 years old. Even though my arm was gone after never having the surgery I needed for it I pitched around 30 total innings, giving up two total runs and discovering I could be successful by relying on my defense by simply throwing strikes. I hit around .500 and in the last Alumni game, that I was able to play in, I doubled off the fence, straight away center field, missing a home run by inches. The Lompoc Record ran the story and said "I STILL HAD IT". "STILL HAD IT, I NEVER LOST IT", I jokingly said to the reporter. I still coach the Alumni Baseball team, and will, as long as I am able to. We won in 2010, 7-5 and 3-2 in 2016, The 50th Anniversary of Cabrillo Senior High School game. I would like to thank all my coaches growing up who taught me everything I know and for believing in me especially high school coaches: Rowe (1974), Dick Wilson (1975), Bill Weber (1975,1976 & 1977), Ric Candaele (1977), Kit Hubbard (1977) and my pre high school coaches Charlie Denson, Gary Hargis, Mr. Radabaugh, Mr. Scheisl and many more. I was blessed and honored to play with and against some of the greatest athletes of the 1970's to ever come out of The Lompoc Valley like: Jesse Orosco, Ray and James Dahlmann, Mark Haley, Kevin Ewing, Ed Roselli, Mitch McDaniel, Mike Morrow, Greg Holt, Kirk Dalton, Brian Murphy, Casey Candaele, Leroy Grossini, Pat Fridrich, Glen Neal, Alan Ascherl, Pat Hanly and so many more who contributed to my successes. In my youth I was also an outstanding bowler and was on a few traveling All Star teams. I averaged around 175 at 8 years old for example. Due to my other sports I did not bowl again until later in life in my late thirties and early forties. The last time I bowled in a Men's scratch league just for fun I rolled a four game 939 scratch series with a 298 high game followed by a 255 while rolling around thirty strikes over the four games. At the end of the year I took all singles money plus my team money against some of the best bowlers on the central coast and they were not happy about it. In 1992 I put together and captained a state bowling team who ended up 10th in the state tournament out of 10,000 teams. My lifelong friends Ray Robledo and Andy Winston the third were on that team, great memories. I am a retired grandpa and since 1989, I have been a professional entertainer (singer). My Karaoke Showcase opened "THE ANNUAL LOMPOC FLOWER FESTIVAL ", for seventeen years and counting. I would travel all over The Central Coast and bring some of the best, as well as, local Karaoke talent to Lompoc. I was also on The Flower Festival/Springfest Entertainment committees for ten years providing Security for all the other entertainers at the stage. I continue to help with Publicity for both festivals as well as many community functions. The past four years it has been an honor to drive my bright red 2001 Z28 Camaro Convertible in 'THE ANNUAL LOMPOC FLOWER FESTIVAL AND CHRISTMAS PARADES". In 2000, I was asked by Harley-Davidson of Santa Maria to perform at "THE MILLENNIUM CONCERT" featuring The Doobie Brothers, A highlight of my professional singing career. I also help promote numerous positive community functions on the central coast primarily "THE LOMPOC VALLEY" where I grew up and still live. I currently help promote local entertainers mainly as a hobby, through my YOUTUBE channel: DANPETRYSSHOWCASE. Such as: Kacey Cubero, she is touring the world, promoting her CD's: "DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH" and "FILL YOUR CUP". "STEPPIN' OUT", featuring Mike Arriola, 'SOUL'D OUT" featuring Lisa and Joe Duran, "LONGRIDER", "TINNITUS", "JUMP DRIVE" and "CENTRAL COAST METAL". I work with "ELECTRIC NIGHTS KARAOKE" featuring John Harney and Steve Pruitt, numerous professional entertainers and will help the ones I like and respect, as much as, I can. You can email me at: dlpetry23cabrillo@hotmail.com. I am also very "PASSIONATE" about "CLEANING UP LAW ENFORCEMENT IN THIS COUNTRY". Why? Because, if a "CORRUPT" Police Officer, "MURDERS" you or falsely arrests you, probably ruining your life, then there is no "MUSIC". First things first, I always say. I am a "VICTIM" of a Police crime myself and then a cover up attempt, of that crime, by the Police. So, I speak from my own personal experience. "YOUTUBE": William Wagener/Dan Petry, to see what a bunch of "DIRTY COPS", did to my life. Mr. Wagener was the first TV host who would let me tell my story publicly and it took twenty-five years to find him. In the past year I have started my own TV show: "C.O.P.$.: HOSTED BY DAN PETRY" where I bring on other victims of Police crime and give them a public forum with as much time as needed to tell America and the World their side versus the Police side which is filled with lies more often than D.A.'s and the general public thinks, in my opinion. Special thanks to Mr. Adam Wagener who does the filming and final editing of my show C.O.P. $. I love my family. Note: I am an anti drug and alcohol activist and have been for over twenty years. I have seen the devastation illegal drugs and alcohol have done to our society. It is "OK" to be "CLEAN & SOBER", only then will you find true happiness, in my opinion. So, too all: "THE LIARS AND HATERS", that have tried to bring me down, over the years, you have just made me stronger. Now you know the "TRUTH", of who I am and what I stand for!!... Note: "PSALM: 23:4: "EVEN THOUGH I WALK THROUGH THE SHADOW OF DEATH, I WILL FEAR NO EVIL, FOR YOU ARE WITH ME; YOUR ROD AND YOUR STAFF, THEY COMFORT ME"!!..."AMEN"!!... Respectfully, Daniel L. Petry (Dan Petry #23) P.S. On May 6, 2017 I was able to achieve the #1 experience on my bucket list that I wanted to do before my life is over. I started out around 30 years ago as a solo entertainment tribute artist of the great LYNYRD SKYNYRD band. LYNETTE SKYNYRD an all female tribute band endorsed by the real band allowed me to sing GIMME 3 STEPS at The Eagles Lodge in Oxnard, Ca. The Lead singer Lauren and the rest of the band were so gracious in allowing me to share their stage. I was really nervous and just sang with all I had. The crowd and the band all said I did great, in fact, Lauren joked their is our next lead singer, too kind... Also, I would like to thank Carl Labove for giving me the oppurtunity to meet his best friend the great Sam Kinison. The Outlaws of Comedy were appearing at The Arlington in Santa Barbara late 1980's and Carl, a Cabrillo Senior High School 1976 graduate, hooked me up with 3 tickets. My friends Lyn Phillips and Melanie McDonald not only saw a great show with Carl opening but afterwards we met Sam on the tour bus and I got his autograph which I still have and cherish to this day...It was a great once in a lifetime memory...Sam tragically was killed by an alleged drunk driver soon after dying in C...(read more)
