Theodore Perry Lindberg, Sr. 87 was a commercial fisherman, boat builder, WWII Navy veteran and a lifelong resident of Monument Beach.

During World War II he served in the Navy as a Carpenter's Mate First Class.

Before and after World War II, Mr. Lindberg worked as a boat builder and carpenter. He was also a commercial fisherman.

U.S. Army Air Forces, WW II

Wallace volunteered for the U.S. Army Pilot Training in December 1942, graduating as a pilot and Second Lieutenant in January 1944. He received his B-17 Pilot and combat crew training, was assigned to the Eighth Air Force in England in July 1944, and flew his first combat mission over wartime Europe on July 31, 1944, his 20th birthday. He flew his 35th and final combat mission in December 1944.

Wallace was very active in the 398th Bomb Group Memorial Association. He served this group of proud WWII veterans in many roles since 1993, including President from 1998 until his death.

Bud enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in May 1942. He was commissioned as a twin-engine fighter pilot, 2nd Lt. in December 1942. On his 5th mission, he was shot down over the enemy that occupied France in June 1944. Bud escaped and evaded the enemy with the help of the French Resistance after spending 2 months being hidden by various families, and he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal for injuries received.

He served on active duty with the U.S. Army, Air Defense Artillery, and retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1968 after 26 years of service, which included World War II, the Korean and Vietnam conflicts..

He was a life member of the Air Forces Escape & Evasion Society, serving on the Board of Directors as the Recording Secretary for 12 years. He was also a life member of the 8th Air Force Historical Society and its MA Chapter, The Military Officers Association of America, the P-38 National Association, Bourne High School Alumni Association, The 55th Fighter Group 343rd Squadron, Veterans of Foreign Wars-Post 5988, Bourne, and the Bourne Society for Historic Preservation. He was a member of the Bourne Fire Department, Company 2 Associates for 53 years.

William Clifford Alden, Jr.

Mr. Alden was graduated from Bourne High School in 1949 and has served four years in the Navy as Aviation Ordnance Man 3c in the Pacific and Mediterranean aboard the USS Bennington and the USS Bon Homme Richard.

Mr. Sampson served in the U.S. Navy on the battleship ''US. Wyoming'' during WWII as Second Class Petty Officer.

After WWII, he worked at Camp Edwards Fire Department as Crew Chief GS-5 and at Otis Air Base as a crash rescue firefighter. He then retired after 25 years.

PVT. WILLIAM S. WRIGHT, JR., son of Mr. and Mrs. William S. Wright of Pocasset, is home on a 14 day furlough upon completion of basic training at Ft. Knox, KY.

Pvt. Wright, 23, a graduate of Bourne High School and will return to duty at the Armored Center at Ft. Knox the end of next week. He entered the Army on July 16.

Soldier Expected Home on Leave

William S. Wright Jr., a Specialist Third Class in the Army is expected to arrive home from overseas sometime this week.

Mr. Wright is with the Third Medium Tank Battalion, 35th Armored Division.

He has received a safe driving award from the Seventh Army and the Good Conduct medal.
