Graduated as an Air Antisubmarine Warfare Technician Airman Striker. I was later assigned to VS-22 (Air Antisubmarine Squadron 22) at Quonset Point Naval Air Station, Rhode Island. What a kick working on airborne equipment used in locating submarines (Soviet) diesel and nuclear. Loved it! During my time in VS-22, I had four C.O.s. In May of 1965 I made AX2 (E-5). In 2009 I attended the disestablishment of my VS-22 squadron in Jacksonville Florida. This was the last VS squadron in existance in the U.S. Navy. As many ex-C.O.s that were still alive and be present were there. I met one, Cdr. Vollmer, and had my picture taken with him. The last year I spoke to him was in 1965!!! I loved my time in the Navy!
