Served 3 years active duty aboard the USS Wasp as a Gunnery Officer, 1960-63. Then, 5 years in in the reserves in NYC in a Naval Intelligence unit. Our task force had 8 destroyers and 2 submarines. We were the ships to perform exercises in the Baltic after WWII ended. No combat but we lost 16 men during exercises. Some of the happiest memories of my life came from those 8 years in the Navy.
