David C Brandt
Class of 1967
Air Force, 20+ Years
Enlisted after high school and attended Basic Training at Lackland AFB, TX. I went on to Technical School at Chanute AFB, IL and finally on to my first duty station at Forbes AFB, KS. Many jobs and duty stations followed including Elmendorf AFB, AK, Shaw AFB, SC, Ubon Thailand , and George AFB, CA. In 1974 I found myself in the USAF Recruiting Service. I started as a recruiter in Los Angeles, eventually moving on to Advertsing and Publicity. I worked with the radio and tv stations in LA and up the California coast asking them to promote the Air Force with public service announcements. I was eventually moved to Sacramento where supervised the advertising and publicity efforts for the western half of the United States. Along the way, I pursued and completed my college degree and had been prompted to Master Sergeant (E7). For my next adventure, I was selected for Officer Training School ( Another lovely summer in San Antonio)' after which I became a shiny new 2nd Lt. Maintenance Officer on F-16s at one of my least favorite places, Shaw AFB, SC. After a couple of years of wrangling jets, I called in a few chips and made back to California as a Resource Management Officer for the Recruiting Squadron responsible for Northern California. By 1987, our older daughter was headed for college and our younger daughter to high school. I decided it was time to move on to my next career and I retired a Captain.
