About	Mark W. Schlagel, age 64, was a resident of McHenry for 20 years, formerly of Zion, IL. Where he graduated in 1977 from Zion Benton High School. He attended College of Lake County, DePaul University and Southern Illinois University in Carbondale Illinois. Mark was the beloved brother of Konni (Scot) Derreberry of Milton, GA; a loving uncle to Ryan Derreberry of Sandy Springs GA and nephew of Gerry Ward of Cottage Hills, IL. He will also be missed by several cousins and close friends. Mark was born December 30, 1958, to the late Warren and Evelyn (Becker) Schlagel. His Grandparents were Herbert and Hanna (Rudolph) Schlagel of Albert Leah MN and George and Florence (McComsey) Becker of Zion. Mark Passed away Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Wauconda Care. Mark’s banking career started at the Bank of Zion, where he worked after high school. After College, he was employed at Fifth Third Bank and was a Branch Manager at several of their local banks. He retired from Home State Bank after receiving a Cancer Diagnosis of Pleural Mesothelioma. A Celebration of Life will be held in the early Spring of 2024.
