Barry W Benecke II

Barry W Benecke II

Class of 1983

After graduating ???? from York in 1983, my family moved to Wheaton, Il briefly before my dad took a job in Minnesota. I went and lived with my mom, until she released me into the world. I moved several times, in the early 90's I had a son, who was given my name, as I got from my father. I pretty much stayed near the area, probably never moving further then 15 to 20 miles away from Elmhurst. In 2007, I met a woman and we got married in 2008. Robin had 2 daughters and 1 son, I have my son, Barry III, and life is good. In 2007, I also found out that a man on a Star Wars collectors forum who needed a kidney. After losing my mom in 2005, to cancer, and being unable to help her live a longer life, I was moved to tears reading about this mans plight. I stepped up, and was a match. In 2009, I flew to California, and donated my left kidney. This process has increased my friends, as my kidney recipient and I are now bonded through this gift. I also joined a Worldwide Donors page on Facebook, and made more friends there, who have also given the precious gift of life. In 2001, I went to a convention in Rosemont to get 3 Star Wars actors autographs, and looked down an aisle, where I saw three professional looking Stormtroopers. I soon acquired my own set of Stormtrooper armor, which I currently use to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Over the years since 2005, I have raised over $56,000 to help fight the disease that robbed me of memories with my mother. I currently work and have been working for almost 26 years at the Walmart in Villa Park. I also keep in touch with Mr. Laliberte who was my art teacher, and a wonderful person.
