James Lowder, a celebrated American author, editor, game designer, and film critic, was born on January 2, 1963 in Quincy, Massachusetts. He is well known for his contributions to the fantasy, dark fantasy, and horror genres. Notably, he attended Whitman-Hanson Regional High School graduating in 1981, and his exemplary achievements led to his induction into the school's hall of fame a decade later in 1991.

Lowder's illustrious career started in the late 1980s, and he quickly made a name for himself with remarkable works like "Prince of Lies," "Knight of the Black Rose," and "Hobby Games: The 100 Best". His novels and short stories have been translated into more than a dozen languages, reaching audiences worldwide.

As an editor, Lowder directed several best-selling book lines for TSR, Inc. in the late 1980s and early 1990s, including the Forgotten Realms, Ravenloft, and Dark Sun.
