What is Robby Ginepri known for?

Born on October 7, 1982, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Robby Ginepri is a remarkably accomplished former professional tennis player. He eventually made Kennesaw, Georgia, his home. Known for his right-handed, two-handed backhand style, Ginepri turned professional in 2001 and retired in 2015, leaving a significant mark on the world of tennis.

Ginepri's career record in singles stands at 188-204, with a career-high ranking at World No. 15 achieved in December 2005. He won three ATP singles titles throughout his career, underscoring his prowess on the court. As for his Grand Slam singles results, Ginepri advanced to the 4th round in the Australian Open (2004), the French Open (2008 and 2010), and Wimbledon (2004). He had an impressive run in the US Open in 2005, where he reached the semifinals. However, his doubles career was relatively less successful, with a career record of 21-81 and no titles.

Notably, Ginepri was the first player to be defeated by the renowned Novak Djokovic in the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament, at the 2005 French Open. In the same year, he reached the semifinals of an ATP Masters Series tournament for the first time, in Cincinnati, Ohio. During this series, he beat a number of highly respected players such as Mariano Puerta, David Ferrer, Carlos Moyá, and Marat Safin.

Not just an athlete, Ginepri is also an alumnus of Joseph Wheeler High School, located in Marietta, Georgia, where he graduated in 2001.
