What is DeQuan Jones known for?

DeQuan Jones, born on June 20, 1990, in Stone Mountain, Georgia, is an American professional basketball player who made a name for himself in high school, college, and professional leagues. He attended Joseph Wheeler High School in Marietta, Georgia, where he averaged 15.2 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.0 blocks per game as a senior. This stellar performance earned him the titles of Class 5-A Player of the Year by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Northwest Player of the Year.

Following his high school career, Jones played college basketball at the University of Miami from 2008 to 2012. He appeared in 111 games and started in 35, amassing 508 points, 268 rebounds, 53 assists, 52 steals, and 51 blocks during his tenure. His performance during college led him to participate in the 24th Annual State Farm College Slam Dunk and Three-Point Contest at the Final Four in March 2012.

Despite not being drafted in the 2012 NBA draft, Jones' professional career took off when he joined the Orlando Magic for the 2012 NBA Summer League, where he signed with the Magic later that year. His NBA career was highlighted by a season-high 13 points on a 6-of-9 shooting during a loss against the Charlotte Bobcats in March 2013. In addition to the Orlando Magic, his professional journey led him to play for several teams, including the Reno Bighorns, Pallacanestro Cantù, Chiba Jets, and the Shiga Lakes among others.

Over the years, Jones earned several accolades, such as the NBA G League Most Improved Player and NBA G League Slam Dunk Contest Champion in 2018. He was also an All-Star in the Lega Basket Serie A in 2015. His stats can be tracked on both NBA.com and Basketball-Reference.com.
