It's another year and more Class Reunions are right around the corner! Remember, it is up to each class to plan their reunion. If nothing is planned you can start your own reunion or form your own committee.
• ...since in my heart, soul and mind I realize my exceptional good fortune at being influenced, always in a positive manner, by the teachings, life values, and guidance, that were all part of being associated with a truly great man; leader, and mentor; the Eagles' truly extraordinary football coach, Joseph Cottone. Coach Cottone was unique in choosing to become a high school football coach in a small town though he possessed an Ivy League education from Dartmouth College. He never allowed himself to be defined by his IVY League education and was unimpressed and uninfluenced by having been surrounded by an environment where wealth and privilege were dominant and assumed. Coach Cottone was a family man first, then a teacher on multiple levels in multiple ways. Despite a competitive nature and determination to teach us the skills that would guide us to learn the importance of teamwork and inter- dependence and maintaining the resilience to win or lose with equal grace. He expected only that our efforts always be the very best we could achieve, that we respected all adults, our teammates, and our opponents. Coach Cottone was certainly our Vince Lombardi and I knew the value of his coaching by being honored to be a member of three exceptional teams that were Conference champions three years in a row. That Coach Cottone represented, in many ways, our exceptional administration, faculty and staff who were all part of an academic team that offered students a truly first rate education, year after year. These are the reasons I know I was a product of Wethersfield High School and will always be grateful for the opportunity.
