About Dr. Myles Tyrone Jones, the youngest son of Mary Lois Baggett-Jones and the late Chief Master Sergent Thomas Edwin Jones, USAF (ret.), was born on June 5, 1969, at Stanford Medical Center in Palo Alto, California. He transitioned to immortality on November 8, 2018, at his residence in Odenton, Maryland.

Myles, also known to many of his friends as Tyrone or “T-bone”, spoke frequently about growing up in the Foxfire area of Fayetteville, North Carolina where he attended Morganton Road Elementary School, Westover Junior, and Senior High Schools, where he graduated with honors in 1987.

Myles attended Fayetteville State University graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, minoring in Economics in 1997. He started his career path at Wachovia Bank as a Business Analyst with internal business consultants in investment operations. Feeling that more was needed to advance his career, he returned to East Carolina University and received a Masters of Business Administration in 2001, with a concentration in Health Management; while simultaneously performing as a Project Manager and Financial Analyst for IBM.

Realizing a great opportunity, Myles integrated his Fortune 500 corporate and entrepreneurial experiences into his teaching as an adjunct lecturer for four years at Fayetteville State University School of Business and Managerial Economics. He concurrently found, owned, and operated a model start-up, L.L.C. This is an example of Myles’ community-based business development. In addition, Myles has served his local community as class president for the Institute for Community Leadership which is one of the numerous organizations included in his proposed community and educational objectives. He has also served as a Marketing Instructor in Cooperative Education and Marketing Education, as well as an Assistant Athletics Coach for E. E. Smith High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Realizing the pinnacle of a successful career, Myles received his Doctorate of Higher Education Management from the University of Georgia in 2013. In addition, he lectured both internationally and regionally at conferences on marketing, and business education and studied abroad at the University of Twente Center for Higher Education Policy Studies, Haarlem Holland; University of Shanghai, China; Peking University, China; and Beijing Normal University, China.

Most recently, Myles held a Lead Business Analyst position for the United States Department of Education in Washington, DC. Prior to joining the Department of Education, he served as the State of North Carolina Board of Trustee Public Representative for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, where he embraced his passion for the order and compliance of higher education.

In addition to his educational and vocational accomplishments, Myles had a special talent for reaching out to others, mentoring, and inspiring them to improve their lives.

Myles enjoyed golf, photography, hosting his own podcast, authoring a book, possessed an NC real estate broker’s license, and was taking classes for enriching knowledge.

Myles leaves cherished memories of him to his mother, Mary L. Baggett-Jones of Eastover, North Carolina; his brother Michael L. Jones (Class of '86) of Eastover, North Carolina; brother Maurice Brooks and wife Tomekia of Raleigh, North Carolina his nieces Ashleigh C. Jones and Breahna C. Jones of San Diego, California; his nephew Michael X. Jones of San Diego, California; nephews NyJal and Noah Brooks of Raleigh, North Carolina; special friend of the family Sherman Wright of Eastover, North Carolina; and an esteemed host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, extended family, and beloved friends.
