Dear Fellow Class of '78 Alum!
It's hard to grasp 40 years is coming up since we all gathered on the 50 yard line to receive the prize we had just spent 12+ years toiling for. While we all know it’s coming, it still seems too soon.... The past 40 years have gone by at warp speed. Each of us on the reunion committee have been meeting for the past several months and we seem to echo the same shock and dismay that we are here at this point....NOT wanting to believe it, but here it is!
As we look over our shoulders at the past”40”, we all have the same response, “What a wild ride!!!”
We keep hearing the same sentiment from all our class mates we reach out to, we're all trying to slow down a bit, stop blinking so much and trying to take in all that comes along these days...not just because we don't/can't move faster than a snail’s pace, but because we're all older and truthfully, wiser having weathered the storms of life, climbed a few mountains and learned how to survive. I think all of us in the class of '78 realized more of what we've missed then we care or dare to say. Each one of us are feeling the accomplishment that we have indeed become out parents!...lol...just kidding! That we've all left a legacy of love.
SO, on the events of our grand celebration, We plan on starting off on Friday evening,
June 15th 2018 at 6pm. We will start with a meet & re-acquaint cocktail party hosted by Scott (Whitey) and Bonnie Kamphuis at Kamphuis Blueberry farm. Bring a dish to pass (casual) food, but the main dish (meat) will be provided. For insurance and such, this is a BYOB gathering! BRING YOUR MUSIC for the fun. Shenanigans and merry making will not only be expected, but encouraged!
On Saturday Morning, June 16th 2018, we will have a golf scrabble at Winding Creek Golf for those interested.
June 16th 2018 Saturday evening, we are being hosted at Dutch Village Pavilion, full (cash) bar and WOW what a spread of catered delicacies we all grew up on and still love to this day! Dancing to music till sun up! We HOPE to have the old group of our talented players back to rock us through the night. Rocky, Jeff, Steve, Bryan, Guy, Ken and anyone who wants to join in!
We want to make special note that this reunion marks 40 years and we are all very much aware of the passing of more and more of our lifelong friends and class mates. It's rather sobering as we look back and remember our childhood. We were all invincible. We were all care free and didn't really think to far ahead to life, what would come or where we would be today. Life is short, and now more than ever, we are hauntingly aware that we are at the mercy of time.
As such, all of us on the reunion committee have taken great care in spending time remembering our class mates who have gone on before us way to soon. We know that each of us are feeling the loss of our friends and we are planning on a special memorial table....we need to remember and pay homage to our friends! If you have any input, or think we may have missed any class mate PLEASE contact us and let us know.

Budget:
· Cost: $30/person to make it affordable for all to attend.
· Cash bar with licensed bar tender. Dutch Village. “confirmed”
· Dutch Village is providing the bar tender and insurance. “confirmed”
· We will purchase beverages through them. They will make it affordable.
Date/Time/Place
· June 15: Evening. Bonfire at Kamphuis Blueberry Barn.
· Bring a dish to pass, chairs, beverage. We will donate “TP” :)
· Per letter...Has this changed to catering and cash bar? Cost per person?
June 16: 8am-noon. Golf. Winding Creek @$40-45/person includes cart.
Scrabble or best ball. Contests for: longest putt, longest drive and closest to pin in 2.
June 16: 6pm, Dutch Village “Het Terras”. There will be seating for up to 200 by event.
Set up may begin 5-6pm Catering by Hog Wild.

Peggy Hansen & Deb Diepenhorst are heading up the planning. Let's all work together as to not forget anyone! Should we go page-by-page through the icons and match up people so we don't miss anyone that has passed?
Entertainment:
Hoping to book that fabulous 1978 Boy Band: Rocky, Jeff, Guy, Mike, Ken, and Brian.
Dutch Village has given the “go-ahead” for a band and has electrical outlets available.
New Businesses:
Awards at reunion: Farthest traveled, most grandkids, married the longest, Great grand kids, who still attends WO daily and etc....
