About Saniter, Cory J. WATERTOWN/ OREGON - Cory Jay Saniter, age 50, went home to his Lord on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, at the Peter and Ellen Johnson HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg, after a seven-month battle with lung cancer. Cory was born on Dec. 17, 1956, in Watertown, to Bill and Shirley (Gerbitz) Saniter. He was a graduate of St. Johns Lutheran School in Watertown, Watertown High School and UW-Stevens Point, where he earned his degree in business. He worked for many years as a sales representative in the industrial equipment area. He is best known, however, for his involvement in archery. He owned and operated Corys Archery in Watertown, from the time he was 14 years old until his illness made it too difficult for him to work. "The Shop" was more than just a retail establishment; it was a gathering place where hunters could share stories and give advice. Cory was a five-time state archery champion and placed first in countless other tournaments and shoots. He was named Member of the Year by the Wisconsin Bowhunters in 2006 and was honored that same year by the Watertown Archers for 35 years of membership and service. He was an avid bowhunter and gun hunter, missing opening day this year for the first time in his hunting career. He cherished the times in his tree stand enjoying the wonders of Gods creation. His passion for the sport inspired many people and he helped forge relationships that will last forever. Cory believed that a good hunting story around the campfire was meant to be told more than once. He was always looking for a better way to do things that would make life easier for others as well as for himself. Cory was extremely proud of his children, Skyler (special friend Nicole Mueller) and Sarah, all of Watertown. In 2003, he met his true love, Kay Bliefernicht of Oregon, They were married in the eyes of God, by Pastor Jason Hill at Corys bedside on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007. Cory is further survived by his parents; his brother, Paul Saniter of Watertown; Kays children, Adam Bliefernicht of Madison and Andy Bliefernicht of Oregon; Kays sister and her husband, Carolyn and Bob Weede of Oregon; and many, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He also leaves behind his faithful feline companions, Tigger, Ted and Muffin. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Corys faith in God was unshakable and his ability to make the best of every situation was remarkable. He had the uncanny ability to add his brand of humor to the darkest of times. He brought laughter and joy to all he touched. A service will be held in Corys memory on Saturday, Dec. 1,2007, at ST. JOHNS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 625 E. Netherwood Drive, Oregon, beginning at 11 a.m. The family will greet guests at the church beginning at 9 a.m. Lunch will be served immediately following the service at the church. Guests are encouraged to wear camouflage in Corys memory. Pastors Paul Markquardt and Jason Hill will preside. The family would like to extend their thanks to the following for their care and compassion during Corys illness: Doctors Hanson and Clapper and the staff at the Regional Cancer Center in Oconomowoc; Dr. Traynor and the staff at the Paul Carbone Cancer Center at University Hospital; Dr. Sehgal and the staff at the University Hospital Pain Management Clinic; and the staff at the HospiceCare Center, who made Corys last days so peaceful. Memorials may be made to Watertown Archers, the American Cancer Society, Wisconsin Bowhunters or a charity of the donors choice.
