About Bruce Allen Zwieg, or better known as “Brewster,” was born on July 18th, 1957, in Watertown, WI. He died on October 20th, 2023, at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. Bruce was diagnosed on December 22nd in 2000, with Multiple Myeloma. He had several treatments throughout the years. In 2021, he had a CAR T-Cell Therapy, which was part of a medical study at Froedtert, which put him into remission for 2 years. In June of this year, markers were showing the cancer had returned. After a stay in the hospital with pneumonia he was admitted again due to the start of kidney and liver failure. After two rounds of dialysis, Bruce hit a breaking point and was done with any further treatment. An extremely tough decision for his family to hear, but his wishes were respected. After a week in the hospital, he passed away surrounded by family.

Bruce was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his annual trips to Hayward, WI for over 30 years. Bruce also loved to deer hunt, he bowled for many years, and played softball in his younger years. Bruce worked at US Chemical in Watertown for several years. Bruce loved the Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers. Bruce and his wife enjoyed weekend roadtrips, several vacations and cruises, even a time when he almost missed the boat due to his shenanigans. Bruce could and would talk to anyone, and he always gave a hug that lingered because of the cologne he wore. Bruce was also a skilled grill master and gardener; he and his wife even received the Watertown Arts Council Garden Award. Bruce had a huge appetite for adventure and food. He once ate a 3-pound burrito after a full breakfast buffet just hours before. Bruce would try anything once, he loved nature and being outdoors, and loved animals of all kinds. Bruce lived life despite the many obstacles and will be forever remembered for his infectious smile.

Bruce leaves behind a caring wife of 21 years, Julie, and a stepdaughter whom he loved and adored, Amanda Schilling (fiancé Peter Frost). Bruce is survived by his brothers and sisters; Cindy (Tom) Schubert, Pam (Paul) Neis, Greg Zwieg, Jeff (Dina) Zwieg, Kathy Zwieg, and Shelly (Paul) Musial and step-nieces Sarah and Anna. His brother-in-law Jeff (Nancy) DeWitt and his nephew Cameron. His aunt Connie Krueger and several extended family members and friends. Bruce was predeceased by his mom Beverley (Tietz), nephew Ryan, and sister-in-law Mary Zwieg. Bruce recently lost his mother and father in-law, Edna and Robert DeWitt as well as his sister-in-law Janet.

His family would like to thank the incredible staff at Froedtert Hospital, his oncologist Dr. Walter Longo and nurse Julie Pruett, and the staff at Hafemeister Funeral Home. Funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Loggans and held at Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown, WI on Saturday, November 4th, 2023. Visitation will start at 11 am with a service to follow at 2 pm. Online condolences may be at www.hafemeisterfh.com
