Favorite School Memory | Oh, God...Nearly every one...bein' the new kid in town back in the late '70's couldn't have been sweeter...new friends, new GIRLS (not sayin’ who)....partyin' down on the Chattahoochie (Alan Jackson got it right - he was singin' 'bout us, y'all!), joinin' the wrestlin' team, smokin' *** and drinkin' wine...life was a highway for a lot of us back then (Bill Moon, howzit?), and those days are gone...guess I'm too sentimental for my own good, maybe even too idealistic these days, but this world we live in today is just too scary…like a bad movie or something. I love my kids, but if I knew then what I know now...I’m tellin’ ya, this world just ain't right. Gail, I'm gonna find you......(read more) |
About Me | Been all over the friggin' map! Never been homeless, but probably shoulda been,- spent way too many years in the fast lane - the business of secular music is a vacuum that, up until '95 when I saved my own ass from reading about myself in the obituary column, I got myself saved by my Jesus y'all...if y'caint dig that, we've got nothin' to talk about. Not everyone has a relationship with God, and that's cool - my son is an agnostic, and I love him unconditionally, just like I love those whom I do, regardless what they believe, or don't believe - just don't go 'round judging folks for...well...just don't judge.I'm not a religious nut - I am a SPIRITUAL nut, and there's a HUGE difference...so don't come cryin' to me with tears of pain if you're not open to the Holy Spirit crawlin' up YOUR pants leg and biting YOU on the ankle! Listen...in between all of the places I've been and the things I've done, I worked for the government for 16 years - you gotta have something spiritual to lean on or a place like that will do things to you that may make you do things to others that don't make for a good life, amen! FTPO! If you can figure that one out, you know what I mean. Been married three times, and even as my body continues to fall apart (nightmare on the misery train) - any one of you reading this who has to deal with 24 hour-a-day physical pain, you know what it's like), if not for my stunningly beautiful woman, my kids, great medicine and God above...I'll just put it this way - PAIN will make you THINK there's no light at the end of the long and dark shaft of life, when you've got ten million nerve endings on fire from sun-up to sun-down and everywhere in between - stayin' doped up on pain meds gets you through these days, but it's a chore that I'd sell my soul to get rid of. Hell, just takin' all the meds is enough to make y'wanna say, "$%^& it all, I've had enough!" I wouldn't trade anything good that I've ever done for myself or anyone else in my life for anything - no regrets, no apologies. As for the bad sh*t...I've dropped to my sanctifyin' knees enough times in my life to ask my Lord for forgiveness, for all the bad stuff I've done to my own body, and for the not-so-good ways I've been to others. Treat your body like a temple, NOT a tent - Jimmy said so, and I b'lieve it! Yes, the cosmic bakers took us all out of the oven just a little too early. "Fruitcakes in the kitchen, fruitcakes on the street, struttin’ naked in the crosswalk in the middle of the week Half-baked cookies in the oven, half-baked people on the bus, there’s a little bitta fruitcake left in ev’ry one of us. Yes, all-in-all, life's been damn good. Right now, though, I just wanna get to the beach, right here, right now. THAT'S what I've done since high school madness got it's crazy arms wrapped around me. Today, I'm just scribblin' away and words just come a-flowin' out like a river run - just keep your feet on the ground, and your head to the sky, and no matter what you've done since high school, people, just be the you that God made jah, be kind to your brothers and sisters, be honest with yourself and everyone around you, and love the one(s) your with (right?) and at the end of the day, you can tell the world that you have good character, great love, respect and forgiveness for every man, woman and child surrounding you, and if you can dance naked without worrying that you might offend someone, you've probably done okay these past 30 years - life, liberty, and the ultimate pursuit of property and happiness - and for fuc*'s sake people, before you criticize anyone, look at you first, and make damn sure that you is perfect enough to be like that before you throw your self-righteous stones whilst living in yer glass house. I'm tellin' ya - if you have a good woman or a good man in your life, love 'em like tomorrow never comes...make it groundhog day for 'em - and if you can't love or be loved like that, then run, man, run...run like your hair is on FIRE and don't look back. Fix yerself or find someone who will love on ewe like that's all they know...and surround yoursel...(read more) |
