Favorite School Memory | Though I was a transfer student and previously attended 4 HS's prior to arrival, the last being in South Boston, Waltham HS was definitely a step up, friends were very nice to me, Lynne Kaufman, (Special in my heart then, today, and always) Debbie Reilly, Mike Frangello, the Dave(s), Nikki Fournarakis, Lisa Petreconi, Georgette Chaisson, and many more sorry for being remiss. My senior year was difficult, running and commuting to school from out of town sometime was Watertown others from South Boston but seeing friends at school, meeting Lynne at my locker, sitting together at lunch, English class with Nikki, Mr. Steinburg was great. Jr.& Sr. Proms with Lynne and Senior skip days at Lake Cochituate and graduation week made it all so much happier. Thank you all for the cherished memories, sorry, I did not stay in touch, my path was not of my own control, That path, I followed was harder than people knew at that time. My fault, my pride, my regrets, but ever still thankful for the wonderful memories, going to concerts, Friendly’s, Izzy's, Cinese Food, The Chateau, The Magic Pan, Top of the Hub, , Martha's Vinyard, too many fond and funny memories to list, Working at Seilers (thanks Dave Bretton, Rustler Steak House with Dave & Moe Blacks with Michael Frangello, i remember Mike, Dave and I, climbed up the Ski Hill (Prospect Hill) about 1/2 way with a plastic wading pool, we went flying down the hill. We also took a trip canoeing in N.H. It would be surreal for me to see these people and locations again, as I left Waltham regrettably in 1983 for the last time, I was torn, going through too much stress, school, work, family stressors, being pushed and pulled in too many directions. My biggest regret was the break-up and loss of friendship with Lynne S. Kaufman, I thought we were beshert. Music, memories and regret, still a pain my heart, Its such a huge loss, partially, self inflicted. I cherish the happy memo...(read more) |
About Me | Matured, step-father adopted siblings and me, hence the name change. In Sept 1980 blew out of college after 30 days, life had challenges meeting me, too many to handle. I needed a way to pay for college. On Jan 18, 1981, I joined the MA Army National Guard to pay for school, (that is a funny story how that occurred) Jan 1981, I attended Junior College, to learn what I should have in HS. (Quincy College) not the school's fault, I required glasses but wasn't diagnosed until Jan 1981. No more eye straining, nor headaches anymore. Then I could read well. I worked as a security Guard evenings, worked part-time at a Burger King. Attended Basic Training (BMT) US Army, Ft Jackson, SC June/July 1981, that was a wake-up call, funny stories. I actually gained weight in BMT Returned to school made Dean's List for BioChemistry. Summer 1982 attended US Army Combat Medic School San Anotio, TX, Maxed the US Army Physical Training Test 1 of 2 that accomplished in the battalion (1,000) troops continued with Bio-Chem. Sept 1983 attended and graduated June 1984 from a Practical Nursing Course at the Youville School of Practical Nursing in Cambridge, MA. Started working full-time as a LPN, after 3 months as a Graduate Nurse, I started working agency nursing all over the South Shore. Thereafter, pursued and received an associate degree in Nursing at Massasoit Community College in Brockton, MA. I continued working agency nursing, South Shore and Brockton area. Then conymtinued and recieved my bachelor’s degree in Nursing at U-Mass (Boston) graduating Cum Laude. Simultaneously advancing in the Mass Army National Guard from E-1 to E-6 then 1st Lt in 1988. I obtained 91B, 91S, 91C (Long) assigned in Medical Units, then my MA last assignment was at Massachusetts Military Academy as an instructor and 8+ years later then transferred to the active duty USAF, worked as a expeditionary forces trauma nurse, hospital leadership, Flight Commander Aerospace Medicine, and Chief Nurse Executive. I did some exciting things, sojourned for 20 years in many states, countries during TDY's, a few of mini mad moments, deployments and 2 wars. Mostly I enjoyed was Egypt 95' (Atop Mount Sanai, and at the top of Pyramid in Giza, the Nile River, my second was South Korea 98-2000, (DMZ), Seoul and every major city in it. The forget about it places and I do not recommend visiting in the Middle East as follows; Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan nor Somalia. Kyrgyzstan memories I left behind. Sustained injuries during last deployment, a surgery here a surgery there, rehab here and there then retired March 09. Housing crisis landed me in Virginia. 2019 Diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, surgery with curative intent. Oct 7, 2023 4 years no reoccurence of cancer. I mor...(read more) |
