Lynda Warfel Fishel attended Gulf Park College for Women and Southern Illinois University. Ms. Fishel has been an active participant in Arcola's school system and local politics. The service to her community has been exhibited in a variety of ways. Ms. Fishel served on the Arcola Board of Education and served three terms as the mayor of Arcola. Through her leadership, the city experienced expansion in economic and business development, city improvements in drainage and water systems as well as strong support of local traditions such as tourism and annual festivals. Ms. Fishel has been honored as a "Woman of Distinction" by Parkland College Women's Programs and Services and continues to serve through her representation on multiple committees for the Arcola hospital, bank and Chamber of Commerce. She met and married her husband, Jack, in 1959. They have five children and have eighteen grandchildren.
