Born in The Bronx, New York on August 29, 1986, Lea Michele Sarfati, better known as Lea Michele, is a popular American actress, singer, songwriter and author. Starting her career as a child actress on Broadway, Michele has appeared in numerous popular productions such as Les Misérables, Ragtime, Fiddler on the Roof, and Spring Awakening.

She gained major recognition for playing Rachel Berry on the Fox series 'Glee' from 2009 to 2015, which earned her nominations for Emmy, Golden Globe, and Grammy awards. She also landed lead roles in other Fox series, specifically Scream Queens and the ABC sitcom The Mayor.

Making her feature film debut in New Year's Eve in 2011, Michele started her journey in the music industry by signing a contract with Columbia Records in 2012. She released her debut album, Louder in 2014 that debuted at number 4 on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States. She continued her music career with her second studio album, Places (2017), and third studio album, Christmas in the City (2019). In 2021, her fourth studio album Forever was released.

Lea Michele was raised in the Bronx until she was four, after which she moved to suburban Tenafly, New Jersey. She attended Rockland Country Day School for elementary school in Congers, New York. Adopting her middle name early in life, Michele landed her first audition for the role of Young Cosette in Les Misérables, the rest, as they say, is history.
