A talented actor, tenor, musician, and conductor, Alexander's roots in the performing arts go back to his early life in Tenafly, New Jersey, where he graduated from Tenafly High School in 1997.

Developing his craft early on, he graduated from the University of Michigan's Musical Theater Department, preparing him for his notable roles on Broadway. He garnered acclaim for his performances in classics like Assassins, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Les Misérables, Sunday in the Park with George, and Carousel, earning a Tony Award nomination for the latter. His theatrical prowess is not confined to the stage, as he also made remarkable appearances in film and television productions such as The Producers, The Good Wife, Homeland, Chicago Fire, Empire and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
