About	Nancy Harris June 30, 1948 – June 15, 2023 Nancy Harris passed away on June 15, 2023, after a brief illness. She was born and grew up just outside of Boston. Nancy originally came to Arizona in 1971, when she first travelled from Massachusetts to Tucson and immediately fell in love with the desert lifestyle. She was a graduate of the University of Arizona, with a degree in accounting. Nancy later became a CPA, and spent most of her career working for the ASU Foundation and Maricopa County Animal Care and Control, where she retired from the position of Deputy Director in 2014. Animals, especially cats, were her passion. She devoted herself to the principles of spaying and neutering to eliminate over-population of dogs and cats, while working tirelessly to encourage adoption into forever homes for these abandoned animals. After retiring from Maricopa County, she continued her work with animals as a volunteer in the non-profit sector. She worked with Fix, Adopt, Save, and was a board member at the Animal Defense League of Arizona, where she also held the position of Treasurer. She always enjoyed the cool desert evenings of spring and fall, when the windows could be left open and the sights and sounds of the desert were most prominent. Nancy is survived by her husband of 45 years, Tom Harris, of Scottsdale and her brother, Mark Weinstein, of Ashford, VA.
