About Me | I'm Retired. Having a nice relaxed and fun life now. Have one 36 yr old son who works for the State of Nv. in Public Health and teaches piano & violin/viola. Born in LA. Ca. Lived in Alexandria, Va. from age 3 to 8. Attended Clifton Heights, Pa. Elementary 4th & 5th grades. Moved to Brookhaven, Pa. to a small 2 Bdrm home w/unfinished attic/ no garage or basement /front covered patio/ good fenced bk yrd/ nice med. front yrd/ paved dr wy.- $ 11,500. 1959. My bdrm became the new finished upstairs/rec. room w/bar..Sooo Loved IT !! Many dance parties I hosted for school friends at 34 Upland Rd. We had to move to Santa Monica, Ca. for my Dad's Job and sold our house for $13,500 Sept.'64. My mom's brother lived in Ca. with his wife . It was so nice to see my uncle again. Went to Venice High '64-'65. Moved to northwest LA. and Grad. U.S. Grant High, Van Nuys, Ca. Summer '66 .w/ Business Major, Art minor. Worked various finance co.'s till '98 . After recoup from 11/ '69 car wreck ( back seat passenger, mostly back muscle trauma/mild concussion ). I flew to Hawaii, found wonderful friends. A Japanese martial arts trainer for Honolulu police Dept., whose girlfriend became a very good friend. I stayed 6 mos. and worked and shared apt. w/friends near beach. Went to a Beatles, Beach Boys, Jimmy Hendricks , Bob Dylan, Doors, Rolling Stones, big jam concert at a volcano crater. Hot and dusty, but sooo much Fun!! Spent Apr.-Sept. '7'0 there, hiking trails, waterfalls and motorcycle rides etc.. I had to come back to mainland to settle my car accident suit. Sure glad I went, ( on a whim ) because I have never been able to go back. I have not traveled outside of US. My son, at 18 went to Thailand for AFS organization for 1 yr. Later he visited Japan & El Salvador. He speaks fluent Spanish . I insisted he take Spanish in 6th grade. He wanted to take French, like I did. He really thanks me for it and is grateful. I'm so glad he took these opportunities while young and unencumbered. He is planning to go visit his host family in Thailand. Host family's son became a pharmacist & younger son, a teacher. Parents were principles for school system. They lived in farming towns, out in the country, outside of Bangkok. They had no hot water or indoor plumbing, but TV, of course!! He came home with much appreciation of his modern convenient lifestyle. My son has a Masters in psychology/BM in Music Ed. He was born in San Francisco, Ca. in '76. I Lived there from '72-'76. We Moved to LA. Ca. worked for CIT Finance Co. transferred to their branch from SF. '74'-'78. Moved to Reno '79 where my parents had moved to in '69 because of Dad's Job. It was supposed to be temp. but Co. could not keep their Mgmt. people cuz they all got hooked on Gambling and had to leave to save their marriages. So Reno was God's plan for our home I presume. We never would have chosen Reno. I stayed because tax is low @ no state income tax, taxes for Businesses are low and not complicated. And then there is " BEAUTIFUL LAKE TAHOE". I Traveled after son grad. in ' 94. I Lived in Ca. Neb. Ind. and Md. for short stints, and settled back in Reno in '98 till present. Worked for a casino 9 yrs. till retired at 59 1/2 yrs. in Apr. 2007. My Dad died in 2003 , of Dementia, my Mom in 2005, of Alzheimer's. My next goal is to research Family Tree, thanks to internet, Ancestry.com. and all the wonderful volunteers at the LDS church Utah archives. Hope I find at least a few generations back. Dad had step siblings in Minn .(Danish decent) 3 bros. died at Pearl Harbor. Dad was deaf in 1 ear and could not serve. One of his sisters ( Mabel) kept in touch with Mom by Christmas card every yr., and her daughter, Bonnie let Mom know when she died in '95. at age 90. Bless you Bonnie for your thoughtfulness for sending the Obit. So now I know the names of deceased & living relatives. They all were baptized in the Lutheran Church. My Mom's mother died when she was 9 yrs. old , her father when she was 23. She had 1 older bro. and a step mother and step sister. They were baptized Catholic. From memory her Mom was a lot younger than her Dad and they immigrated from Poland. I have no idea what city in Poland. I wonder who's Tree will be the most difficult. I know mom had a great aunt with 10 kids, who lived in Cleveland, Ohio. I would like to find out if her ancestors are from Polish J...(read more) |
