About Me | Author of TAILS OF A SOCIAL WORKER.Retired Medical Social Worker from East Orange New Jersey Veterans Administration Medical Center. Retired from Jersey City Ferris High School Special Education Department. Caseworker at New Jersey Division of Youth & Family Service, New York Urban League Program Director Family Redirection (Teenage Pregrancy Prevention Program), Daytop Village Drug Prevention Program Counselor, Childrens Aid Society,(Foster Care & Adoption Unit). Although I'm Retired nothing stops me from pursuing my goals. My biggest Goal to be achieived is to see my book entitled TAILS OF A SOCIAL WORKER become just that Achievement of my Goal. I've been a writer all of my life. This is very challenging to say it mildly. I'm both Blessed and Amazed to see these many years. To see the first Black American become President of the United States of America, to see the expansion of Media which includes so many African Americans that I'm unable to keep up with the numbers because that number expands daily. Considering my Graduation from Charles Summner High School in June 1958 addresses a Historical Period from then until now. I worked as an Executive Secretary for Jewish Federation for three years. In those days we used Gregg Shorthand , you were the Secretary, you were to answer the telephones, write down the Boss Message, and take Dictation, Type the Letters, The Reports and Set up the Board Room for Meetings. I had another position that began my Career with the St. Louis Department of Health and Hospitals which was as Medical Assistant at The Jefferson-Cass Health Center Maternal and Infant Care Project, I was employed at the very hospital where I was born many years HOMER G PHILLIPS Hospital as an Admitting Clerk working a Rotating Shift for many years..After three years I matriculated into being accepted at Jefferson-Cass Health Center as a Medical Assistant who helped the young Teenage Mothers prepare for the the Birth of their Unborn Child. Lastly, I did an Adjunct Lectureship at Brooklyn College Department of Guidance Counseling the course was entitled THE SCHOOL AND THE COMMUNITY AS A BASE OF POWER. At New York City Housing Authority I was Social Work Superviosr for the Elderly Assistant Information For Management Program. This entailed providing Services to Elderly Tenants who were aged needing linkeages to Community Resources; ie,Medical Services, Food,Nutrition, Assistance to Medical Out-patient/In-patient appointments which facilites the visit for the aged tenant and their /Family Members.
