About	Bruce died at age 43 after a two-year struggle with colon cancer. He had been living in New York City and Westport. Bruce purchased the old Bumpus house at the far end of Compo Mill Cove in the 1970's, winterizing the former Philippines exhibit from the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair. He turned it into a beautiful retreat for family and friends, and also the site for countless fabulous parties. Bruce's passion for entertaining and helping others was also reflected in the formation of his NY-based fundraising firm where he worked with a diverse group of clients, from Woods Hole Marine Biological Laboratory to NY's Burden Center for the Aging, to the Martha Graham Dance Company. He never married, but was survived by his mother, Marguerite, brothers Brian '67 and Brett '71, sister Brook '75, and by the niece and nephews he dearly loved.
