About This is Larry Rodgers, brother of Janice Rodgers Taggart. I posted this on my wall yesterday. I also wanted to post it on Janice's wall to make sure it reaches all her friends:
My kindhearted, loving sister, Janice Rodgers Taggart, passed on Saturday night to be reunited with her husband, Al, our parents and many other relatives and friends in Heaven.
It was a peaceful passing, with family at her side.
Janice never met a person that she could not become friends with. She had the “gift of gab” and was truly interested in learning about the life of anyone she met.
She made countless friends in the Maryland/DC/Virginia area where she resided, as well as across the country and around the world. She had a very important and loving church family at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in our hometown of Silver Spring, Md.
Her passion in her church was “missions,” the act of helping others, which included building and refurbishing homes for the needy, sending school supplies to Native American children, helping new immigrants to our country, fundraising for the homeless, feeding the hungry and projects in Third World countries. She was a stalwart of her church.
That “gift of gab” made Janice a top-flight salesperson for many years and a beloved co-worker when she later worked in the health-care field.
Janice also shared the passion of our mother, Carol Rodgers, in finding joy in staying closely connected to all the generations of our family.
I will miss the many updates on everyone.
She and our mom shared a special bond, and Janice was her devoted caregiver in her final years. My sister loved our family home in Hillandale, a scenic neighborhood full of tall trees and nature.
Janice was a lover of all creatures great and small, though cats were her favorite. She helped pass that love of animals on to my daughter, Lauren Heidbreder, and my grandchildren.
She was also a music lover. The Rolling Stones and Moody Blues were her favorites.
I always told Janice that she was the best “big sister” that a guy could ever have, and I have always been her “little brother” in her eyes. She had my back at all times.
I will never forget her devoted and mighty love for me, my wife, Linda Marie, and our entire family - as well as the joy she got from being with her close friends in Maryland, my now-home state of Arizona, and a hundred other places.
Janice was truly one of the most thoughtful and loving people I’ve ever known.
