Mr. Odis T. McCord, 65, Athletic Director at Southaven High School, died Monday, January 16, 2012 at Baptist Desoto in Southaven, MS. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Fletcher Moorman officiating. Burial will follow in Springdale Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012 from 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Carriage Hill Baptist Church in Southaven, MS.Born in Lafayette County, Mr. McCord was a member of Carriage Hill Baptist Church in Southaven, MS. He had a love of all sports but especially loved Ole Miss Athletics and Southaven Athletics. In addition to his work with Southaven Athletics, he enjoyed teaching drivers education which he taught until last year. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Otis McCord and Kelly Wayne McCord and by his parents, Mr. Ellis Monroe McCord and Vonie Beatrice Sullivan McCord.Survivors include three brothers, Ray K. McCord of Oxford, MS, Frankie K. McCord of Banner, MS and Floyd Michael "Mike" McCord of Oxford, MS and a host of nieces and nephews.Memorial contributions in Mr. McCord's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , or The Odis McCord Memorial Scholarship

Coach Larry Brown's Retirement
The former Southaven HIgh School Coach Larry Brown is retiring. He was the coach that led the chargers to an undefeated season in football (10-0) in 1980. he is retiring after 39 years of service in teaching/coaching. his retirement is set for Dec. 20, 2008 at the first baptist church in Fulton, MS at 2pm.
