About Me | I have been with the Boeing Company for 51 years and 8 months; 20 Years Manufacturing, 31 Years Product Support. Affiliated with the Douglas Aircraft Company as an Aircraft Structural Assembler on July 5, 1966, after 4.4 years in the U. S. States Navy. After completion of Naval Aviation Technical Training. I was transferred to Naval Air Station Pensacola Florida to serve in a Naval Aviation Cadet Training Command VT-4 Squadron where I served until I received my first honorable discharge. My primary duties were to provide upkeep maintenance to a fleet of 70 T2A Aircrafts. I served in the capacity of Airframes Shop Maintenance Mechanic and Flight Line Trouble Shooter. I transferred to the Flight Line where I was a Training Petty Officer reporting directly to the Line Maintenance Officer. I transferred to the Flight Line as a Flight Line Supervisor where I took over a split shift and supervised two maintenance crews in support of the 70 aircraft which were used for Carrier Landings and Aerial Gunnery Qualifications. The military formal and on the job training I received provided me with the confidence and skills I needed to face and overcome any situation that came before me. The training prepared me for employment in the Commercial Aviation field with a successful company as was the Douglas Aircraft Company. In 1967 the Douglas Aircraft Company merged with the McDonnell Aircraft Company and became the McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Corporation. In 1971, I started a dual career by re-entering military service as a Naval Aviation Reservist and served in multiple fighter jet squadrons and a VP Patrol Squadron. I attended multiple Naval Aviation training schools to enhance my Non - Commissioned Officer Leadership skills. Retired in 09/18/2004 as an E-6 Petty Officer with 20 years of dedicated service to my country. I held a multitude of authority positions (i.e., Airframes Shop Supervisor, Scheduled Maintenance Supervisor, Flight Line Supervisor, Training Petty Officer and 100 Division Acting Division Chief). In 1975, employment terminated, after 10.5 years, with a layoff for a period of three years. I got my Airframes and Power Plant FAA Certificate and worked for multiple companies and enhanced my knowledge base through exposure to related aviation and other fields. I returned to formal schooling and completed two years of college but never received a degree. In 1978, I was recalled as a Structural Assembler to the McDonnell Douglas Corporation. In 1979, I was promoted to an Industrial Publications Writer. I was promoted to Associate Engineer, Senior Engineer, Technical Specialist, Senior Technical Specialist and Principal Technical Specialist. After the Merger of McDonnell Douglas Corporation and the Boeing Company, I served as a Technical Writer, Team Leader and mentor for 11 Engineers, and Technical Editor in the Service Bulletin Engineering Department, authoring Retrofit Modifications and Inspections Service Bulletins for all ATA Chapters for all DC Model Airplanes. In 1984 I became a Design Approval Engineer for the Service Bulletin Engineering Department. I reviewed and corrected Engineering Drawings to ensure compliance with requirements for Retrofit Modifications and Inspections Service Bulletin applications. In 2003 I retired. In May 2004, I hired in at Continental Data Graphics as a Technical Writer. In December of 2004, I hired into Boeing as a Product Support Engineer Level 3. In 2006, I again retired due to a mis-diagnosed medical condition. In 2007 I hired back in to Boeing as a direct hire into an Aviation Maintenance Technician & Inspection - Field (Labor Grade 9). In 2014, was promoted into a newly created Product Support Maintenance Engineering classification at the Seal Beach, California “Boeing Operations Control Center” as a Logistics Data Pubs Specialist Level 4 for all Boeing Model Airplanes. In July of 2020, I was involuntarily laid off. In April of 2022 hired back in to Boeing as direct hire into an Aviation Maintenance Technician & In...(read more) |
