Ralph H. De Mar

Ralph H. De Mar

Class of 1979

After finishing at Simeon in 1979, as a music major and a member of the Chicago All City high school band. Ralph De Mar went to Grambling State University and was soon 1st chair clarinetist for the GSU symphonic band. Ralph DeMar was also an outstanding actor in the GSU theater, and was ultimately awarded an Irene Ryan nomination as a GSU actor. Ralph De Mar completed his bachelor of art degree in psychology and married his college sweetheart in which 3 children were born who are also graduates of Grambling State University. Ralph DeMar then went to houston Texas and Completed his Master of arts degree in clinical Psychology in 1984. He worked for the Texas Dept. of Criminal justice as a Prison psychologist for several years and later worked as a Psychotherapist. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor. He then became interested in computers as a hobby and is now a computer literacy instructor in houston. He was acknowledged by Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee as a community educator. Ralph De Mar was the guest speaker at the graduation of his former elementary school, Guggenheim in 1998. He lost his mother, Ms. Freeney, in 2004. As a former cross country runner for Simeon, he ran in a marathon in 2006 coming in second place for his age group. He plans to come in first place this year 2009. Ralph DeMar has always been a focused overachiever with a characteristic great sense of humor. As a recipient of many awards and recognition he owes his competitive nature to his early formative years at Simeon Vocational High School. Now divorced, he plans continued outstanding success a a community educator and plans to devote the rest of his life in computer and reading literacy. As a former missionary to honduras, central america, Ralph De mar is fluent in spanish and teaches classes in spanish and english. His mission statement is to make the world a better place by uniting the old and the young through computer literacy.
