Alumni Stories
Bert Jenkins
Class of 1976
Good morning all. I'm reaching out to attempt to connect with members who either are connected with, or who may be a part of the East Cleveland school system. I'm currently involved in a volunteer organization called Empowering Youth Exploring Justice. At this point their work primarily involves the Cleveland Municipal school district. Upon hearing that, I immediately inquired about the possibility of getting involved with East Cleveland schools. To that end, I'm trying to see if I can somehow bring the two entities together. EYEJ is an organization that facilitates and coordinates discussions with youth on such subjects as financial literacy, social justice, and prevention of violence. As I mentioned, I am an approved volunteer and can connect the proper parties having ability and authority to make these types of decisions with the administration of Empowering Youth Exploring Justice. It is completely volunteer and would not impact budget in any way. If anyone has information that would help me make what I see as a potentially positive connection, please reach out here via inbox. I'm a graduate of the Shaw High class of 1976 trying to do anything I can to give back to the city and school system that gave me so much
