About Me Starting with today, encapsulating years as they unfolded, I count "this" day a true gift! Looking back in time, I loved ALL of my school days-many of my most cherished memories reside with SPHS. Truly. I loved my friends-still in contact with some...but moving miles away usually means acquiring "new" friends which goes without saying. Other topics, which maintain meaning: I LOVE animals and nature. Those who literally fight for the rights of our treasured animals, I fully heartedly support. I have been soo blessed to travel to four of our seven continents and many scenic places. I learned to swim (thanks to Liberty Lake, WA) when I was 3; at 43, I was swimming the Great Barrier Reef-the coast of Australia-a dream! New Zealand is the most pristine place I have had privilege to lay eyes on. Morocco was insightful-passing by the Rock of Gibraltar, swiftly met on the tip of Africa, with dancing & color and bells & yes, gold-phenomenal. Contrariwise the poverty was despicable and difficult to witness the contrast that was there. Europe-Paris, Rome, Costa del Sol...the beauty to take home (in heart.) Mexico, flying to Cozumel "trippy." :) Adding, the beaches of Hawaii and on to Fiji. This list of cultures were ranged from enriching to near intoxicating. But people are people (anywhere) inherently likable! So, on with life and the side to life that carried(s) "lessons" to learn. The "downside" to life brought chaos and a glimpse of long-standing pain. As it goes with life, heartfelt "losses" come with outstanding overtures. *Our greatest songs, sing of the paradoxes, don't they? We all relate. Married 30 years to the love of my HS years--a separation turned to saying goodbye. All the reading & experiences couldn't prepare for this empty feeling. School had brought me to the profession of a Therapist so my life turned from personal to professional, for years. in 2008 life brought another life change. Illness struck with an uncanny resounding helplessness. Love, Joy & Peace came knocking at my heart's door, as a solace. Seemingly, tragedy swooped down to swallow my heart's desire, or so "it" seemed. I turned my propensity of "people" to seeking a longing to understand a concept I'd heard of but hadn't yet incorporated into my being. I sought DEEP lovingkindness & how far this could be known. Struggle as I did my missteps seemed to be overruled with love, joy & peace all appearing in one accord. The concepts became tangible! But I'd been accustomed to learning "by hindsight"-not exactly an enviable way to be a learner of all things good.:) Frankly, it's embarrassing (Somehow) navigating life couldn't have come easier. Nonetheless and more than ever, life continued(s) to abound in goodness even laughter, meeting new circumstances with a hopeful stance. In all of this reflection, without question, learning and then learning some more is what LIFE seems to be, for me. As a wave of the ocean that is met with only another wave of the sea brings more of life to incorporate, appreciate and yes "bring forward." "There is no time like the present" quoting Georgia Byng and certainly that is meant to encourage all of us. My present endeavor is to finish writing a little book. It's ab...(read more)
