What is Eric Stoltz known for?

Whittier, California native and San Marcos High School alumnus, Eric Stoltz, had an enviable and diverse career in film and television. Born on September 30, 1961, he went on to become an American actor, director, and film producer, actively contributing to the field from 1978 until present.

Stoltz first gained significant recognition for his role as Rocky Dennis in the biographical drama film Mask. This performance saw him nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture. His career boasts roles in a variety of films, spanning from mainstream productions such as Some Kind of Wonderful to independent films including Pulp Fiction, Killing Zoe, and Kicking and Screaming. For his performance in Pulp Fiction, Stoltz received a nomination for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Male.

In the early stages of his career, Stoltz joined a repertory company that performed ten plays at the renowned Edinburgh Festival. A successful pursuit in acting led him to drop out of the University of Southern California and move to New York in 1981 to study with renowned acting coaches Stella Adler and Peggy Feury.

Enriching his career further, Stoltz also starred in various television series. In 2010, he landed the role of Daniel Graystone in the science fiction series Caprica. Besides acting, he became a regular director on the popular television series Glee.
