What is Cady Huffman known for?

Born on February 2, 1965, in Santa Barbara, California, Cady Huffman rose to stardom as a talented American actress. She hails from a creative family, with her older brother Linus Huffman being an actor and her other brother John Pearley Huffman a noted automotive writer whose work features in esteemed publications such as Road & Track and Car and Driver. Cady's passion for the performing arts began in her early years as she was actively involved in the vibrant local theater community of Santa Barbara. She also pursued classical ballet at The Goleta School of Ballet.

Graduating from San Marcos High School, Santa Barbara, in June 1982, Cady set her sights on the big stage. Her Broadway debut was as a replacement cast member in the hit musical La Cage aux Folles (1985). Soon, she was cast in Bob Fosse's Big Deal and received a Tony Award nomination for her performance in The Will Rogers Follies (1991).

In 2001, Huffman was cast in the original Broadway production of The Producers, a musical by Mel Brooks. Her captivating portrayal of Ulla in the musical earned her the prestigious Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical.

Her illustrious career extended to film and television as well. Making her film debut in Hero (1992), Huffman appeared in various movies including Space Marines (1996), Romance & Cigarettes, and The Nanny Diaries. She also made her mark on television with guest-starring roles in Frasier, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and Mad About You. In a recurring role on the television series Curb Your Enthusiasm during 2004, Huffman played herself. Huffman revealed her versatile talent by stepping into the shoes of Dr. Paige Miller on One Life to Live starting in August 2005.

Beyond acting, Huffman has established a strong presence behind the scenes, producing and acting as production designer for the independent film Sunday on the Rocks (2003-2004) directed by Joe Morton. Interestingly, Huffman also found herself judging culinary battles on Food Network's Iron Chef America.

Most recently, in June 2023, Huffman directed Anything Goes, a musical by Cole Porter, Guy Bolton, and P.G. Wodehouse at Black Rock Theater in Fairfield, CT.

Currently, Cady Huffman resides in Brooklyn, New York City.
