Dan (Danny) Groghan

Class of 1961

In 1960 and 1961, Russ McClain, Jimmy Michaels and Dan (Danny) Groghan all had Cushman motor scooters. We zipped all over St. Albans on them to the delight of the St. Albans police department. And, we had a club name. It was "Mean Motor Scooter" (from the song "Alley Oop"). Do you remember seeing MMS painted on the white cinderblock wall beside the school? It was painted in turquois letters -- painted there one midnight as I remember. But, I will leave it to your imagination to guess who painted "MMS" on the wall.

We gave all the girls free rides on our motor scooters. Anne Mecum said she enjoyed it so much she bought one when was older and moved to Ohio.
