About Me | Tons of stuff since high school! The short version of my gig: I am currently the band director for Discovery Middle School in the Plymouth-Canton school district in Canton, Michigan. My teaching duties include five concert band classes, a percussion class, and small ensembles. Most recently, I was the Director of Bands at the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park. We were selected performer at the Bands of America National Concert Band Festival, a perennial finalist at the Bands of America national marching band championships in Indianapolis, earned superior ratings for concert band at the district, state, and national levels, and was the Michigan state champion for marching band each and every year. I was also on the faculty at Marian Catholic High School in Chicago and served as Band Director/Percussion Director. While at Marian Catholic the band participated in the BOA National Concert Band Festival three times and was named the Bands of America National Champion in 1994, 1997, and 2000. The band also represented the state of Illinois in Washington, DC for the 2001 Presidential Inauguration. Most fortunately, I was formerly the music manager for the Tony and Emmy award winning Broadway production of “Blast!†and still serve as a musical advisor as needed. I have been actively involved in the drum corps activity and have been a clinician/teacher for many corps, such as the Blue Stars, Cadets, Carolina Crown, Cavaliers, Madison Scouts, Phantom Regiment, Santa Clara Vanguard, and the Star of Indiana. Other honors include being selected to represent the state of Michigan in the School Band and Orchestra magazine 2007 special edition, “50 Band Directors Who Make A Differenceâ€, instructing selected performers for the 2001 NBA All-Start game, the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, and the 1994 World Cup, being a founding staff member of the U.S. Army All-American Marching Band, and performing at Carnegie Hall in New York City. All that aside, the joy of my life is my family. I left the craziness for my former business life and now have more time to be with my wife and kids. My youngest has extreme special needs and needs most of my time, and I treasure the time we spend together. I can't wait to hear...(read more) |
