About	Thomas was born 21 Sep 1942. OTT, Thomas Warren Thomas W. Ott, died on Friday, July 27, 2012, surounded by his family, at his residence of 30 years, in Troy, Michigan, after battling cancer. Previous to living in Troy, he had lived in Southgate, MI. Tom was 69 years old, having been born in Detroit, Michigan, on September 21, 1942, to the late Willard and Emily Ott. He was married to his loving wife, Marlene, for 44 years. The were married at National Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oak, MI, on June 21, 1968. They were blessed with a son, Paul Ott of Auburn Hills, MI, and a daughter, Adrienne Ott of Macomb Township, MI. He is also survived by a brother Jeffrey Ott (Peggy) of Wyandotte, MI. Tom had earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Wayne State University. He had a long and distiguished career in public service financial areas. He had been an accountant at Plante and Moran and served as Finance Manager at the Grosse Pointe and Lincoln Park school districts. But for 24 years, Tom was the Chief Manager of Fiscal Services for Oakland County. During his tenure, he received many awards. He received the Award of Financial Reporting presented by the Government Finance Officers Association. The Association of Government Accountants recognized Tom as Certified Government Finance Manager presented by the Professional Certification Board. The Oakland County Board of Commissioners issued a Proclamation honoring Thomas Ott. Tom also received the Oakland County Service Award in recognition and appreciation of dedicated service to Oakland County. Tom was a veteran of the United States Navy. While in the Navy, he served in the Heavy Attack Squadron Five, NAS, Sanford, Florida. During the Cuban crisis in 1961-1963, Tom served on the USS Forrestal aircraft carrier and Reserve duty from 1963-1967. Tom loved boating, fishing and golf. His love for being on the water began with his service in the Navy. Together with Marlene, they travelled on their boats throughout all the Great Lakes and Georgian Bay, as well as the Gulf of Mexico. They crossed the Atlantic Ocean on the QE2 from South Hampton, England, to New York in order to see the Statue of Liberty and experience the same crossing as did their grandparents. The two of them also visited the Galapagos' Isalands by small ship and experienced a river cruise on the entire length of the Rhine River. He was a member of the Oakland County Sportfishing Association-OCSA and the Michigan Steelhead and Salmon Fisherman's Association (MSSFA). As Marlene recalls, "Tom always enjoyed a game of golf, even with me. He golfed with the Troy Seniors at Sylvan Glen Golf Course, Troy, and also in many golf leagues in Ft. Myers, FL, He was an excellent golfer, and as he became older, his golf became better!" "Tom's unwavering love for Marlene, his wife of 44 years and his children, Paul and Adrienne, are the most meaningful remembrance. Our short retirement was filled with an endless adventure of travel and persuing his love for fishing, boating and golf. He followed the fish and the warm waters from Port Hope, MI, during the summer to Ft. Myers, FL, his favorite place during the winter." Tom served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Columbkille Church in Ft. Myers. Funeral Services held privately.
