About Steinke, Ronald Arthur Born July 22, 1941 in Wyandotte, died October 24, 2016 in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. Ron left this world gently, knowing he was entirely loved and valued. His dark wit, strength of character, stylish self-expression, and good heart made him a treasure in the lives of his family and friends. He trudged through difficult places during the 6-month illness that preceded his death, but faced each day with exemplary courage and faith in God. Ron flirted with danger in his youth, as evidenced by his being named as the "leader of the Zip Gun Gang" when he was only 12, according to the somewhat erroneous reporting by the Wyandotte News-Herald. His youthful transgressions, prompted by his intensely curious nature, were set aside in adulthood. As an employee of Karmazin Corporation in Wyandotte, and Guardian Industries in Carlson, he was active in union work, serving often as a committee man or local president. He was vigilant in his solidarity with all union causes. Predeceased by his parents, Art and Betty Steinke, Ron is survived by his daughter, Ronda Steinke-McDonald (Michael Dunlap), former wife and dear friend, Marvita "Marti" Cole Steinke, his sisters, Diane Steinke and Sandy Poli (Don), grandchildren, Katie McDonald (Andrew Barclay), Ian McDonald, and Mia McDonald, great-granddaughters, Della Barclay and Alma Barclay, and dozens of nieces and nephews who remember him lovingly. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 22nd at 10:00 a.m. at the covered pavilion (gazebo) overlooking the river at B.A.S.F. Park in Wyandotte; reception following. All are welcome.
