About Michael W. Back, age 61, of Crown Point, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2011. Michael was born in Gary and was a graduate of River Forest High School, Purdue University and John Marshall Law School. He was a member of the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association, American Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the American Bar Association. Michael was past President and member of Innsbrook Country Club and a member of Lost Dunes Country Club. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Michael donated his time and money to religious organizations; most recently he made a medical mission trip to Haiti with his family. Michael was a fan of the Purdue Boilermakers and the Northwestern Wildcats. He was a loving husband and father and a friend to all. Michael always enjoyed his family, friends, and a glass of fine wine. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Christian. Michael is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Debbie (Martinez) Back; and their two children: Mark William and Hillary Elaine; and Michael's daughter, Amelia Michelle; his sister, Shelly (Dean) Weiler; brothers: Hollis (Bobbie) Back and Dr. Jerry (Rose) Back; and many nieces and nephews. Michael enjoyed a special relationship with his in-laws: Bill and Elaine Martinez. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY AT St. Matthias Catholic Church, 101 W. Burrell Dr., Crown Point, IN 46307. Msgr. Joseph Semancik and Rev. John Strebig concelebrating. Interment at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 2:00 PM. to 8:00 PM at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN. Contributions may be made to Medical Student Missions thru Burns Funeral Home.
