About	Michael R. “Mike” Mefford, age 69, of Valparaiso (formerly Lake Station), passed away peacefully on December 24th, 2020. Mike was born in Huntsville, AL on July 13, 1951, and graduated from River Forest High School in 1969. He most recently worked at Cardinal Health Systems over the last 16 years. Mike began his career at U.S. Steel Gary Works in 1969 and retired from the energy division after 34 years of service. He was a devoted, supportive, and loyal husband and father. Mike enjoyed fishing and camping. He will be remembered as hard-working, caring and helpful by his family and friends. Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Valerie Joyce (Petruska); sons: Kerry M. Mefford of Hobart, IN. and Christopher M. (Angela) Mefford of Winona Lake, IN.; beloved granddaughter Lorelei Elizabeth; brother David (Vanessa) Mefford of Lake Station, IN.; sister Jamie C. Cain of Sun City AZ.; sister-in-law Vicki Ray of Lake Station, IN. and numerous nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his parents JD Mefford and Nettie Ruth Mefford and in-laws Albert and Geraldine Petruska. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 from 2-6:30 p.m. followed by a short prayer service at 6:30 p.m.at Burns Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th St, Hobart IN. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Burns (Hobart). Rev. Mark Pflughoeft officiating. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Portage IN.
