What is Richard Cranwell known for?

Charles Richard "Dick" Cranwell, born on July 26, 1942, in Ceredo-Kenova, West Virginia, is a prominent American lawyer and politician. He kickstarted his career in politics as a member of the Virginia House of Delegates from 1972 to 2001, continually contributing to the legislature for nearly three decades. (source)

In his earlier years, Cranwell attended Richlands High School in Tazewell County, Virginia, where he made a remarkable reputation as the varsity quarterback, leading the state in touchdown passes in his senior year. Proving to be versatile, he also played as a kicker in college.

After securing a Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1965, Cranwell went ahead to earn his Juris Doctor from the University of Richmond School of Law in 1968. Following his academic achievements, he joined the Virginia State Bar and started his practice in Roanoke County, Virginia. His legal career is highlighted by his active membership in various professional bodies like the American Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Academy of Rail Labor Attorneys, and the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association.
