Hello Winter and Summer Class of '59!
The reunion this summer - June 12 and 13, 2015. The first event will be dinner at BJ Brewery on Canoga Avenue in Woodland Hills at 5 p.m. Friday night, June 12 followed the next day by a picnic at Balboa Park on Saturday, June 13.
We have a private room at BJ Brewery in Woodland Hills Friday night which seats 75, so if you have friends who want to join us, please have them sign up right away. This is by reservation only and the event will be closed if we reach 75.
We have decided to stay at the Hilton Woodland Hills (within a block of the restaurant) but you're welcome to check out other hotels in the area as well. The cost of the room is $109 per night plus taxes. The total cost for two nights is $251.94 including taxes. If you reserve through the hotel, be sure to specify nonrefundable and prepaid to get this special price. Booking.com charges the same, but we haven't checked all on-line sources. We tried to get a block of rooms, but they require a contract with 90% of rooms booked or we'd be responsible for those not booked. So obviously, we need to do this on an individual basis.
The dinner at BJs will be all-you-can-eat "Pizza Pairings", which includes:
• Four types of deep dish pizzas: BJs Classic combo, Mediterranean, Vegetarian, and Garlic Chicken Pesto
• House salad
• Pasta: Angel Hair Classico (toasted garlic, oil, fresh broccoli, Parmesan cheese, sun-dried tomatoes and basil).

The cost with tax will be approximately $20/per person for the dinner. Drinks are on your own. Please bring cash so the staff won't have to process individual credit cards.
The Picnic Saturday at Balboa Park is a no host event. We will meet at 11 a.m. at Pavilion 3. For driving directions, go to http://www.laparks.org/dos/aquatic/balboa/index.htm You will be responsible for your own food and refreshments (park rules prohibit alcoholic beverages). We suggest you bring comfortable seating and anything else that will make your picnic enjoyable. There are several local grocery stores and deli's in the area to purchase picnic foods for the out-of-towners. There will be a "kitty jar" at the picnic to cover the $75 cost of the reservation.
