Jay Stielstra - remembered (bschmid7401@gmail.com)

Jay's friends and family will hold a memorial celebration of his life on Saturday, June 15 at 1 pm in Pioneer High School's Schrieber Auditorium, Ann Arbor. This is a beautiful, newly renovated, professional theater, with easy parking and enough seats for everyone who wants to attend.

Jay had an extraordinary gift – he was able to positively impact the lives of so many people, from so many communities. At this celebration, a number of those people will share something they learned from knowing Jay - a lesson they've used to enrich their own lives, or those of others.

And of course, there will be a lot of Jay's music performed by a number of his very talented musical friends.

**If you learned something from knowing Jay that you'd like to pass along to others at the memorial gathering - either aloud during the celebration or in writing - please contact me in advance (bschmid7401@gmail.com).

It can be lighthearted or serious, practical or idealistic.

Remember that even though very few of us will have the opportunity to create change on a large scale, every one of us has the opportunity to make small positive changes in the world around us, every day. We hope everyone will take something from this celebration that will make the world a little better.

Please share this information with anyone you know who may want to attend. Also, formal dress is discouraged.

Local Family Business Sold - AA Pioneer Grads

After 57 years, the Onderdonk family are no longer the on-site, founders and owners of A-1 Rental, 2285 W. Liberty, AA. Founding married partners, the late Adrian and Ann Onderdonk graduated from Ann Arbor (Pioneer) HS as did their siblings, who operated the business in later years, John, Bob and Linda Onderdonk Harvey. The business was purchased by Doug and Stephanie Schoch, Dexter residents, who opened Dexter Rent-All in March, 2012.

45th Class Reunion being planned
 A low key reunion celebration of the 45 years since our AAHS graduation is in the preliminary planning stages. We feel we should keep getting together at least every 5 years, but save the big blow out for celebrating our 50th in 5 years. We are planning for a one night reunion around the first weekend in August. When I say “low key” I mean we might not serve a meal but furnish appetizers, munchies a cake, coffee, tea, lemonade, iced tea decorations, music and decorations with a cash bar. We plan to have plenty of opportunities for us to catch up on what is going on with the members of the Class of 1967..

 We have had a few committee members become busy and who aren’t able to help with the planning and execution of the reunion as they have done in the past. We are looking for a few local class members with e-mail to join the committee and give us a hand and some new ideas fr the reuion. Any takers? Contact Kent Kittel at kkittel@provide.net

Scott (The Rationals) Morgan Info
 Class of ’67 member Scott Morgan needs your help. About three months ago, Scott was diagnosed with severe liver disease and ascites (no Hep C).
Reprinted from a posting on Scott Morgan’s website February 24, 2012 o “Dear Friends,
Scott is stable and living at home but we still don't know to what extent damage can be reversed. This healing is a very long and slow process and we simply have to wait to see how his body responds to treatment. Scott is firmly committed to getting well without surgery and is doing everything in his power to make that happen. Needless to say, he quit drinking at once.
Many of you have asked about his voice. It sounds very scratchy and weak at this point and he hasn't even attempted to sing! Once again, the extent to which it will come back remains to be seen. He needs to see a specialist for diagnosis. We'll keep you posted.
Financially, St. Joseph Mercy Hospital has an assistance program that covers part of his bills, (bless them), however, there is still the other part that Scott has to pay, which is significant, plus anything outside their health system such as prescriptions, etc. Although we have applied for Medicaid and other Social Services, these are difficult days for those funds and nothing has been approved as yet.
In order to show our support and help Scott through tough times, a group of his friends have gotten together to stage a benefit performance and to solicit funds. The plans for the benefit are just under way so there is little to report as yet, but stay tuned to this page for updates. If you can help Scott by sending a donation or buying merchandise, that would really help him a lot....”

 Film-maker Tony D'Annunzio is donating proceeds from the screening of his “Louder Than Love, The Grande Ballroom Story” documentary go to Scott. It' will be shown at the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor 7PM.Monday April 9th, 2012 . Tickets at Ticketweb.com or 866-777-8932

ï‚· An additional benefit is planned for April 14 at 1477 Grill (formerly Mario's of Troy) to help Scott.
o Scheduled performers include Amy Gore and Nikki Corvette, Frijid Pink and a Howling Diablos celebrity jam that will feature many of Morgan's musician friends.
o Guest MC's are Doug Podell and Steve Kostan from WCSX-FM (94.7). Many rock and sports items will be up for auction, including stuff donated
by Ted Nugent, Dick Wagner, Ray Goodman, SRC, Alice Coope
